Topic: "Dare Devil"

My younger brother sent me a link to his promo video on YouTube at the weekend. I got thinking and came up with this, again a change from my usual style but hopefully more in keeping with his lifestyle.

Dare Devilby Roger Guppy

Intro:

[G][C7][G][Dsus]

Verse 1:

[G]He will [G7]mount his [C]motor[C7]bike and [D7]ride it on one [G]wheel,

[G]He will [G7]jump it [C]over [C7]cars and [D7]ride it straight through [G]flame,

[C]He has [G]many scars but [C]this is part of the [G]job,

[C]A usual, [G]accepted risk for a [D7]stuntman is his [G]game.

[G][C7][G][Dsus]

Verse 2:

[G]He will [G7]get in[C]to a [C7]car and [D7]drive on two [G]wheels,

[G]He will [G7]go and [C]crash it[C7] or [D7]roll it again and [G]again,

[C]Many bones [G]he has broke but [C]he comes back for [G]more,

[C]For he [G]thrives on the danger and the [D7]pain.[D]

Pre_Chorus:

[Bm]Take a [Am]deep breath and [G]just ready your[D]self,

[C]Gun the [G]motor, let it scream to ex[D]cess,[D]

[Bm]One last [Am]quick check that [G]everything is [D]right,

[C]Let the cluch [G]go, and ride to suc[D]cess.[D]

Chorus:

[C]For thirty five [D]years he has [G]risked life and [Bm]limb,

[C]Just to [G]thrill and excite the [D]crowd,[D]

[C]This brave [D]soul is [G]my young [Bm]brother,

[C]Which makes me [G]both scared and so [D]proud.[D]

[G][C7][G][Dsus]

Verse 3:

[G]He hold [G7]many world [C]records[C7], [D7]some have now been [G]banned,

[G]For somehow [G7]time and [C]time a[C7]gain he [D7]succeeds and sur[G]vies,

[C]But in trying to [G]beat the [C]feats of my [G]brother,

So [C]many others have [G]sadly lost their [D7]lives.[D]

[C]Just to [G]thrill and [D]excite the [D]crowd,

[C]This brave [D]soul is also [G]my young [Bm]brother,

[C]Which makes me [G]both scared and so [D]proud.[D]

[G][C7][G][Dsus]

Verse 4:

[G]A dare [G7]devil is [C]what he [C7]is, it [D7]seems he knows no [G]fear,

[G]He [G7]takes the most [C]awe[C7]some risks [D7]day after [G]day,

[C]The eye of and [G]eagle, the [C]heart of a [G]lion,

[C]The best darn [G]stuntman in the [D7]UK,[G]

[C]The very best [G]stuntman [D7]in the UK. [G]

Re: "Dare Devil"

Well, what can I say Roger but, a well done song from a proud big...? brother. You've caught the essence of what his life is about and in the same breath you've said how his line of work makes you proud and nervous all at the same time. Good writing laddie. smile I'm sure he'll be proud of you for this song.
Is that your bro setting himself on fire and setting the world record?.
I must google him and learn more.
Thanks for the tune and the links.
It feels good to step outside the box and write in a different style doesn't it. smile
Good job on the recording.

Thanks Again

Re: "Dare Devil"

Thanks Kenny,

The tunnel of fire shown just after The World's Most Amazing Videos flash was a world record in the 70's. Unfortunatley several people lost their lives trying to beat it and the Guiness Book of Records deemed it was too dangerous and so will no longer recognise it.

By the way, don't blink or you'll miss it, but the guy in the white T shirt at the end of the tunnel that runs after him is yours truly.

My brother Colin, or James Dylan as he is known owns and runs Stunt World and does have other drivers/riders that perform with him, one of them, Tony Fixter, has been with him since he started.

Re: "Dare Devil"

Pretty Cool Roger smile
I saw that clip with you in it on Amazing Videos way way way back.Judging by your picture at MySpace I would think your brother is the one with the big grin as he's driving the car up on two wheels. Sounds like he done OK for himself.Does he still do Disney in Paris?

Re: "Dare Devil"

Wowsers Roger,

Goodness how mad or brave is this stuff ?. Id be absolutely terrified for his life if he were one of mine.

Has he heard your  song yet ? Ah the love of a older brother, i know it well.  Very well done to you. Like the video

Best get to work!

Why Blend in with the Crowd ? When you were made to stand out !

Re: "Dare Devil"

Hi Helena and thank you,

Our Mum (86 next month) has never been to see him perform live so I do not think she will start now. I, on the other hand, have gone as often as I can, although I have usually ended up assisting inside the ring. I sent him the link to this page last night so he will find it and hear it in due course.

Hi Kenny, Yes the guy with the big grin is he and he is still the official stunt trainer for EuroDisney.

Re: "Dare Devil"

I love when brothers get along and even better when they respect and love each other. Goog job, I am sure your brother feels the love.
Are you native to Portugal?

Re: "Dare Devil"

What a way to earn a living smile looks a spectacular show Roger but highly dangerous. Ever been tempted to participate yourself..
Your upbeat song fits well to the theme of the video on utube.

Re: "Dare Devil"

Hi Papa,

Thanks for the comment. As school kids Colin and I fought like cats and dogs, but that was a long time ago now and as we got older we gained more sense. I moved to Portugal  from the UK three and a half years ago as I was getting more and more disenchanted with the place.

Thanks too Ark,

When Colin first started I was the clown of the team for maybe a year. You know the one who always gets in the way, gets knocked down, run over and breaks ramp supports so I had to lie under it to hold it up while they rode their motobikes over it. As the show developed he found that this role was no longer needed. These days if I end up in the ring it is usually to douse things with petrol and ignite it.
