This title phrase happened while I was working on another idea (I love when that happens).

James is this a song about misplacing something or forgetting where you are? i like the title the words will take a little gettin used to im not sure what the song is about maybe im looking to deep into it it feels like a waltz in 3/4 but i could be wrong can you enlighten me
Hi Russell,
Bingo! What is this song about?
I am still not sure and will probably keep re-working the lyric. Frankly, it has already been through several versions.
This is classic case of me stumbling on a phrase (forgetful eyes) that resonates strongly in my imagination. My mind has gone off in a dozen different directions imagining what 'forgetful eyes' could be - - - and I still don't know for sure.
At one point, the song was going to be the musings of a heartless cad . . "Who is this total stranger who says she's leaving me?" At another point it was going to be a mournful contemplation of lost youth. I also took a stab at making it about a lover who has betrayed but is forgiven.
Bottom line - I still don't know what 'forgetful eyes' means and I guess it really shows in this lyric. I know it has to mean something - - - but I'm obviously not clear exactly what. Hence, the your confusion.
Sorry - now that I see it with 'fresher eyes' I am also confused as to what it's all about!
I play it in 4/4 time (but thought about waltz-time also). The chorus "Blame . . . " is a real howler. I plan on recording this cryptic little ditty soon . . . even though I shall continue to ponder a better lyrical expression of the idea.
Thank you james for clouding it up its as clear as mud
hi james to me it portrays when your looking for something ,your staring right at it and you still don't realise its what you want in the first place, great song....stay cool
daddycool, I do that more more often now . . .

Ken
Hi James,
Luckily I did not have Ken's problen and I played it through, then I looked further down and saw that I need not have bothered as you have recorded it already, so I had a listen too.
I did like the "Who is the total stranger who is leaving me" version but it would have been difficult to have taken that theme much further and who cares if it does not make sense, I don't make sense a lot of the time so it suits me fine .

James the lyrics of this song to me could be about the dimming of the memory in old age or onset of alzheimers.
It's just what it coveyed to me.
Nice recording
Ark
Arkady, I like that interpretation - thanks!
Hi James,
Ive listened and like it. My own eyes have also become forgetful. They have forgotten how to moisturize themselves!
I use natural tears in a box to keep them from feeling dry. Another angle on forgetful eyes!
Thank You!
Old Doll.
