Topic: Adding songs to my song book

For some reason when I view a song there isn't an option to add it to my songboog. Am I doing something wrong? Where the option used to be is the word REMOVE as though I was already in my songbook, instead of just having looked the song up.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Adding songs to my song book

a song to the database?

I've used the great resources on this site before . . But I've just registered as a user. Wanted to add a song / then, use the transpose feature to get the guitar (capoed) chords vs. the 'real' bass chords . . . ?

Help please.

Re: Adding songs to my song book

As long as your logged in it should be showing up on the right side of the page / half way down

hope this helps

cheers

Hi Sandsoftime,

Welcome to Chordie. I think you were asking how to put a s new ong onto the Chordie database. Chordie is basically a search engine and so it does not have it's own database but accesses the other ones on the 'net. To have a song available on Chordie it has to be on the 'net elsewhere and then by letting admin know the URL for it they can sort it out. If you look in Resourses under frequently asked questions you will find further info there. I hope I did not misunderstand your question and that this is of help.

Re: Adding songs to my song book

Still can't figure this one out..I've added many songs to my personal songbook in the past but can't do it anymore. Whenever I look at a song and scroll down the right side I see the name of the songbook the song is from (even if I found the song by searching) and at the top My Songbook is highlighted as though I am looking in my songbook. And down on the right side where it used to say ADD it now says REMOVE. I double checked and these are not songs I already added, so I can't figure it out.

Thanks Randall

Re: Adding songs to my song book

Hello bigrinwv - perhaps your songbook is a maximum capacity? I believe the limit is 100 songs per book. You can create a new book, and then add to that. Look around on the My Songbook page for the button to create a new book. Hope this helps.

Re: Adding songs to my song book

Hi bigrinwv,

This is the second time you have raised this query and both times I have spent quite some time trying to reproduce what is happening to you without much success, I'm afraid.

The only way that I can get a remove message is by accessing a song already in my songbook. At all other times I get the add message. If you are not accessing songs already in your book I am afraid I cannot help.

Good luck

Re: Adding songs to my song book

Thanks all:

I think James may have hit the nail on the head, I do have about 100 songs in my book. Maybe that's why I see that message.

Guess it may be time to delete some of them. Or maybe to start a second book, sure do enjoy Chordie. Lots of fun. I'm a non musician myself or maybe I should say a wanabe musician and it sure is neat to see how the songs are played and it's also great to read wht the real musicians have to say about everything.

Thanks, Randall

Re: Adding songs to my song book

That's what I thought the answer was going to be - but thought I'd ask anyway. What are your favorite spots to submit from ? . . . 'Cowpie' - (Song Corral) is about the only other one I've messed with much - because I'm primarily interested in bluegrass stuff.

Thanks again,

Re: Adding songs to my song book

Hi Sandsoftime,

Sorry, I forgot to mention in my previous message that Chordie is in the process of starting a sister site for us to be able to publish our songs. The plan is for us to be able to upload, not only the words and chords, but also a MP3 version of the song being performed. Check the Songwriters section of the forum and scroll down to the 7th August 2006 thread from Admin titled 'Publish your songs on the Internet' for more info. I think there are a lot of us eagerly awaiting this site to come on line.
