Topic: PERFORMING IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE

I suppose that there are fellow chordians did perform already in front of an audience.
SITUATION:
- How would you react if you are asked to play in a bar and the audience is just intereted in BEER and WOMEN making a hell of a noise, and worse they start shouting at you that you suck, or go home, you spoil our evening. I AM 100% CONVINCED THIS HAPPENS MORE THAN ONCE.
People don't have respect, they prefer to show DISRESPECT.
1) Do you stop and walk away?
2) Do you continue and you act if there is nothing wrong, and ask them to shut up?

OTHER PROBLEM:
- You play some great covers, but bad things can happen = you can't remember some lines. If the audience is enthusiast I would hold a mic in front of them and let them sing, or you start singing lalala.

I think you either don't engage them or ask them to come up and join you depending on how distracting it is. I'm sure Southpaw can chime in on this as he performs regularly and would know from experience the best way to deal with it. Having never performed in that setting, I'd say ignore if possible.

Ive performed under those circumstances a number of times it isnt easy to stay cool and focased but walking off only makes things worse its better to take the insults and crank the amp up so it really pi@#^s them off and play rock and roll  for yourself if you love what your playing on stage the people will pick up on that and most of them will get behind you and enjoy themselves but there are always a few buttholes who can only get themselves noticed if they got a big mouth chances are they wont get laid and you'll go home with the babe they will only fantisize about smile
