Bull Durham is one of my all time favorites. It also has a killer soundtrack.
Guess who's coming to dinner.
Some of the best acting I've ever seen. No effects.
12 O CLOCK HIGH Gregory Peck (you can take the title 2 ways ) it won a acadamy award for sound and best supporting actor Dean Jagger
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Great character study by two great actors
the longest day, john wayne robert mitchem, and about ten other big stars.Great wwii movie.
I really enjoyed the movie "Amadeus"
The part where Mozart is dying in his bed and Salieri is almost forcing him to complete the "Requiem" inspired.....
Pure fiction of course but a great scene

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest starring Jack Nicholson. My English Literature class in college did a synopsis on this fine film. We drew names from a hat to see which character we would read. I got R.P. McMurphy ( Jack Nicholsons's character). Was hoping to get Chief's. (he had only 4 or so spoken lines in the entire film) The playing of the "saw"as a musical instrument in this movie fits to perfection.
"Some People" a 60's film with some great songs and the lovely Angela Douglas. The music was provided by Valorie Mountain and the Eagles (not THE Eagles sadly).

Breakfast Club is a classic John Hughes '80s film ... love it ....
My favorite has to be Ben Hur ... LOVE it!
Shawshank Redemption...powerful story about friendship. Heavy without being sappy.
Not a lot of comedies listed so far so I'll say "History of the World"...I'm still waiting for Part II to come out though...LOL
I'm a big fan of any Mel Brooks movies.
I'll 2nd "Shawshank Redemption" My favorite movie of all time and I've seen alot of movies...lol Owned a video store for 5 years about 8 years back. Sold it when DVD's came on the market and you could buy instead of rent for just $10 bucks more. I still have about 2,000 of the movies on hand but 1,500 are on vhs and I don't even have a vcr anymore to watch them on...lol They'll probably go on a yard sale sometime soon...
Comedy has to be "Caddyshack"...Drama...have to go with "Cool Hand Luke"
Shawshank was good ... Morgan Freeman was awesome in that movie ... Cool Hand Luke is a classic ...
Another one I love is Schindler's List ... VERY powerful movie
Lol crow ... I saw that movie ages ago and wondered what happened to Part II as well
some cool ones are Scarface, Dog Day Afternoon, Forest Gump, and Second Hand Lions,

Ps. id best not even start on the musicals!
PPs, Has anyone here ever heard of a film called " Evil Roy Slade"? hilarious old film i seen many years ago.
Lol crow ... I saw that movie ages ago and wondered what happened to Part II as well
That's what makes Mel Brooks such a genius...he always keeps us wanting more!
I'll second upyerkilt's Monty Python "Holy Grail"...fantastic movie.
I can't believe "Super Troopers" wasn't brought up as a favorite comedy, I know it's one of mine.
As far as dramas are concerned, I would have to say that "Gladiator" has got to be up there for me. I also like "Saving Private Ryan", but I've only seen it once and I don't intend to see it again. I'm the same way with the "Green Mile". Great movies, I just get too emotional when I see them and I'm depressed for a week afterwards.
Biggest "blockbuster" disappiontment for me has to be "Titanic"...there was no suspense, I knew the boat was gonna sink!
The Simpsons: The Movie. This is a must see for everyone and soon it will be a classic.
