Topic: Learning Guitar

Hi, i found this site through a friend, and i noticed you have loads of songs, Tab and Chord, but i was wondering if you could point me towards any really easy songs to play, i can only really play A G C E without having to look at a diagram of the chord on screen.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers

Learn to play D.

That will free I IV V chord progressions in three different keys, and that means you can play thousands of songs, as they all progress the same way.

A D E

G C D

D G A

Add F and B and you're really rolling.

E A B

C F G

And practice. Lots and lots.

Someday we'll win this thing...

B i cant get at all, not the barred version anyway lol i can play the B thats almost like A but a string up, if you get my drift lol

Re: Learning Guitar

it depends on what music you like. some easy songs that i like include

bob marley- redemption song- G Em C Am

pink floyd- mother- G C D C

train- drops of jupiter- A E G D

theres lots of other stuff i cant remember. if you look at the public songbooks under super begginer or super easy somethin like that you can find tons of stuff

~good luck

If you spend your life judging people, how will you ever have time to love them ♥

Re: Learning Guitar

Scrimmy,

You may also want to try some Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) stuff, like Proud Mary, Down on the Corner, and Who'll Stop the Rain!

Good Luck!

Re: Learning Guitar

Re: Learning Guitar

Hey,

I have a few songs you could play but, it deppends on what kind of music you like...

Nicklback - photograph

Yellowcard - one year six months, view from heaven, and more

Evanesence - wake me up

Kansas - dust in the wind

Simple Plan and Good Charlotte - almost anything from them

If you just look up your favorite bands you'll find songs you like and know, so you can play them. I had trouble with B and Bm for a long time, to switch and make it sound smooth. It still needs work but I'm able to play it now because I practiced a lot.

So, that's the best advice I can give. Practice new chords once you have the others down.

P.S.

Dont give up with those fingers! You'll soon have little trouble with them!

Well then you're all set. You already have what it takes to play about 10,000 songs.

And learn the barre. It will open up the entire fretboard for you.

And did I mention, "practice every day?"

Some good advice there mate, and i'll take heed of it.

My friend is a great player and has been showing me some stuff, he thinks im coming along great since ive only been playing for over a week, actually got my guitar for xmas, but decided to take it early lol

Thanks again everyone for your help, being honest this site has been the one thats helped me the most, and is now the only guitar site i visit!

Re: Learning Guitar

Just keep practising my friend. I've had my guitar for 15 months and now play and sing in a country band. Practise is the key and the rewards will come.Be patient and good luck.

Re: Learning Guitar

15 months is no time at all, my goal is to be playing well by next xmas, and I think I could be well on my road!!

Re: Learning Guitar

Well mate,

For only a couple weeks, I'd say your doing great!

I'm now teaching a girl to play guitar and she still can't play a chord without a tab paper to tell her where to put he fingers. She saw me play and got really excited, and that was way back in November! Anyway, to know those chords already in such little time, that's great! Also, I totaly agree that this is the best site. I've been to tons of sites recomended by other guitarists, and this by far beats them all!!!

Re: Learning Guitar

Just got my guitar back from the shop, had a pickup fitted to it, been without it for a week and seem to have forgotten alot of stuff lol

I tell you what though, ive not even went near an amp with it yet but for some reason it sounds alot softer and better pitched then it did before, back to the drawing board for me!!!

Re: Learning Guitar

i need to learn some songs to. only thing is my left hand has permanently damaged tendons. (my teacher does not know this and i dont want to tell her) i would also like some easyb songs if you dont mind!!!!!

Re: Learning Guitar

Have you thought about or explored the idea open tunings and even slide? Also depending on your style of music and if you sing you can abbreviate a lot of chords so that they are easier to make...

Re: Learning Guitar

Hi

Try a site called GuitarNoise. I've found it really helpful. Lots of simple songs and a bit of music theory
