Nice guitars but metal rigs they are not.
Dave Murray of Iron Maiden uses a Strat, his tone is more than passable.
An HSS Strat will give you all the Metal tone you want and still be versatile enough for Blues, Country, Jazz, or any other Genre you might want to play.
There's several things wrong with that. It won't come close to approximating the tone I want for metal, it's too thin and not dark enough. For jazz, I still find it too thin. Country, not enough twang, and it doesn't overdrive the way I want for blues.
I have an SG that has EMG 81-85 pickups. If you can make your Strat give me THAT sound, I'll consider one a real metal guitar.
I have the same response every time someone tries to force a Strat down my throat as a replacement for my EMG-equipped SG and my Casino. I don't particularly like single coils, I don't like maple bodies and I can't tolerate a $1500 guitar with the lackluster finish I've always found on MIA Strats.
