Topic: Pleasin the Ladies

I'm a college student and have been playing the guitar for a few years and I consider myself a decent guitar player.  Now my question, I am looking to learn some songs to impress the ladies, if anyone has any suggestions for good romantic songs, I'd greatly appreciate it!! ~Bryan

Ken

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

If its a particular lady you are trying to impress then a good idea would be to find out her favourite song/s preferably love songs, learn them and then seranade her. How could she possibly resist?!?!?!?!?!

Good song, Wish yo were here, Pink Floyd.

Great song if you can play all the intro and fills etc. as its a cool song and sounds great.

I think you will find that as long as you can play reasonable well and play tunes that people generally know and like anything goes.

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

More than words, Extreme.

Just thought of it!!

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

Hey Bryan,

Try songs of the late John Denver.

Aspecially: Lady (are you crying) this song always works with girls who have relation-problems.

When you play this song and see some women crying you definately have caught one who needs carress and comforting!! (That's how I got married!)

good luck!

"banjo"

PS: if you can't find songs of J.Denver: I've got them.

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

Bryan, Try Unchained Melody. Its real easy cause its so slow. Leaves lots of room to improvise.

Good Luck, To108

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

some ladies like songs such as 'wake me up when september ends' by green day. it's melodic, and calm and meaningful.

alternatively, you could play for them behind your head to impress them

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

hi guys.

Given that I am a lady I feel i must reply.

I don't think any of the songs you all have

listed would be "pleasin" to me. With that

said I must say some of those are good songs

they just would not be what I want to hear.

It seems you have all assumed we ladies only

like love songs............NOT!!!!

Ladies enjoy all sorts of music and songs.

Try being a little more versatile.

I know for me I am impressed just by the

player being able to play and sing a song I

like.

With that said........ask her what she would

like to hear.

just my two cents..

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

Fella,  i was in a packed out University bar one friday night and the guy on the stage was challenging the students to come up and have a go, he was playing a piano,  but he had with him an old EKO Ranger 12 string Electro/accoustic that was all gaffa taped up and he asked if anyone could play it, i happened to have had a few whisky and cokes in me at the time so with a gut full of dutch courage i said i could play the thing, and i got up there and after finding a capo and tinkling with the EKO to make sure it was tuned went into the intro of Hotel California, the crowd went mad as that old Eko produced its beautiful 12 string sound over the amp, and the guy on the piano(a true master) produced a bit of magic of his own and did a rendition of the Electric guitar parts with the piano and sung with me and the EKO in the background. When we finished up to a standing ovation i had in mind to get some more whisky and coke, and found myself being flanked by a few good looking young ladies (and sadly a couple of guys too!) who escorted me to the bar where one thing led to another and a good night was had by all. Nuff Said.  But the point is mate,  half the time its not the song, it's having the skill to play at all (and sometimes a big set of <a href="mailto:b&#64;ll" target="_blank">b&#64;ll</a>#cks). But it's also a good idea to know what she's into and have it playing on the sterio when she arrives, so that when she says "Oh, I love this song" you come in and say "Really?, so do I, i can actually play this on the Guitar!"

Before my brother in Law proposed to my sister i taught him Stand By Me by Ben e king, she loved it and now they're married with a kid <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_surprised.gif" border=0 alt="Surprised"> .   So good luck fella and let us all know what worked!

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

But as the lady stated, it all depends on what the lady likes...

What might be a killer song for one might be a total turn-off for the other.

As for good all-round songs that sound good on an acoustic guitar you can allways relly on 80's soft rock.  If you require more specifics you can stick to The Police/Sting, U2, REO Speedwagon's "I can't fight this feeling", The Bangles' "Eternal Flame", Boston's "Amanda".  Bryan Adams has several "killer" songs like "Everything I do", "Heaven", "Have you ever loved a woman", "Let's make a night to remember", "Please Forgive me", etc.

On a personal note, some hand picked piano songs might get the desired result as well, have any of you tried "A Kiss to Build a Dream On" by Louis Armstrong?  Simple and sweet, and you might just get what the song is asking for...

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

Try blackbird from the beatles' white album. Once you get the hang of it it is really easy and impressive.

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

the sort of song of course depends on the lady, but i think the choice of the song isnt always the most important aspect. its more important that you like the song and you can identify with it. then it sounds good and reliable... well, thats just my opinion... the opinion of a lady by the way <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_wink.gif" border=0 alt="Wink">

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

Good ?

I have found that playing

"And I love Her"    By the Beatles

works every time.

It's very easy to play

what really gets them is when the key change, takes place

Do the lead. It's very easy and sounds romantic. And they love

to sing to it because the words are so easy and means so much.

Play it in the orginal key sounds better.

It starts out with f#m to C#m

This song is great and easy to play with two guitar players

children, just starting to learn the guitar are amazed and their eyes just light up. When they hear it.

Get a ukulele.

Learn to play 'Dream a Little Dream of Me'

Play it to her by a campfire.

aye

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

Romeo and Juliet.  Dire Straits did it, and the Indigo Girls, too.  Or "Your Eyes" from Rent.

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

learn some jack johnson

but the best song is "hey there delilah" by the Plain white t's

it's pretty simple once you get the picking pattern down and the singing comes fairly easy go for it

Re: Pleasin the Ladies

i downloaded that song 'hey there delilah' and i love it and i know that would get to me if a guy played that one for me.  it's a lovely song and i would definitely recommend that one, especially if you can change the name from delilah to the name of the girl you like. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_razz.gif" border=0 alt="Razz">
