Topic: "Do the Panic" trouble!!

Hey guys, I'm new here and also quite a beginner at playing guitar.

I've just learned how to read tab and can do pretty well figuring it out. I know the numbers on the lines mean the frets of course and depending upon how they are positioned whether you pick one string or play them all.

I have the most difficult time with "Do the panic" by Phantom Planet. The tabs confuse me!!!

It's like this-

Yet I'm very confused. 6-4-2? How is that possible? When I see people play it (even other than Phantom planet themselves) it doesn't look anything like the tabs are where they have their fingers.

(Keeping in mind this is just the intro) Could someone please kinda explain to a real noob where you put your fingers and such.

You can play that entire lick with two fingers.

I'm guessing you're not getting the tab.  I have no idea how this song goes, but take your ring finger, put it on the D string at the 6th fret, and strum the A and D strings together.  Move it to the 4th fret, and do the same.  Then the 2nd fret, and do the same.

Move it back to the 6th fret, and use your index finger to fret the A at 2nd.  Repeat.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Hi Susan , and welcome to Chordie........
   One thing you always have to keep in mind with this site or any other , is that the lyrics , chords and tabs that you find here are submitted by other players and are sometimes so inaccurate that it's almost funny ........That's why sometimes you'll see fifteen versions of the same tune .
   When I'm looking for one , I usually end up checking out each one , then download the
one that is closest . Then sometimes I still end up editing it before we start actually working on the song...............
