Topic: HELP!! Someone has stolen my guitar

THIS TOPIC IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU FOR ME, FOR EVERY GUITAR PLAYER
What if they steal your guitar: SAFETY TIPS AND TRICKS, PREVENTION!!???

I read an article 1 minute ago and I was really SURPRISED in a negative sense
They told that about 1.000.000 instruments are stolen each tear.
I believe it is a growing business, if you see the prices asked for VINTAGE & COLLECTOR guitars. As BACKSTAGE DOC for artists, I could go on stage, and amazing what you can see there.
- Some bands had behind the curtain at least 50 guitars, even more.
- There were approximately 4 different brands, and a lot of guitars are almost identical.
On a Rolling Stones concert, I saw at least ten TELECASTERS, Keith loves them.
NO SECURITY AGENTS, only the "GUITAR MAN" who tunes guitars in a normal tuning and some in open tuning. Switching guitars: every 2 or 3 songs. The man who tunes is often on stage watching the band. If you have FAST hands+time it's not difficult to grab a guitar and disappear.

WHAT DO YOU DO CHORDIANS TO PROTECT YOUR GUITAR?
- INSURANCE = very expensive, even 1 or 2 guitars.
- A BACKDOOR = Insurance as decoration.
- What about prevention? I take a picture from my guitar & serialnumber
BUT WHAT WHEN IT HAPPENS? Writing to every store? eBay? I don't know
THIS TOPIC CONCERNS ALL OF US, WHAT DO YOU DO?

Re: HELP!! Someone has stolen my guitar

My serial numbers for everything-guitars, saxes, drums, pianos, mountain bikes, motorcycles, cameras, computers, etc. are in my web-based email, written on a piece of paper in my desk, and on my iPod in a notes file. Plus homeowners insurance covers my instruments

SGinCYQX I noticed that you are from GENDER, NEW FOUNDLAND, in CANADA correct?
If you look at the map it seems all so close, like Quebec Montreal.
English French?  AND AN SG FREAK?
I do the same more or less. I have 25 guitars to INSURE THAT = giant amount.
Mine are INSURED as "DECORATION", which is in fact true. I pick a guitar and I can play a while on this guitar. The guitars of the week: Martin D-15 (mahagony dark brown) Gibson LP custom 1978.
I take pictures, but to have a serial number INSIDE the acoustic?
After that I save them in word and once all my guitars are photographed and discribed, I'll print them out to save them in 3 copies.

Re: HELP!! Someone has stolen my guitar

Last months G&B Adi Vines warned of guitar thieves at gigs. Seems like the word on high value guitars has got round and small venues with poor security are being targeted.

You can get musician's insurance that covers you out the home. The other answer is to keep your instruments mid-range, low cost and just replace them.

There are also little microchips you can bury in control cavities but like serial numbers these rely on the instruments being sold through channes that will check. No use is they are sold in a back-alley or to an e-bay private purchaser.
