Topic: FALSETTO singers

A GREAT EXAMPLE = BEE GEES.
On a 40 years "time-line" they reinvented themselves, from classics like "MASSACHUSETTS", I started a joke, to a transition period with "JIVE TALKIN" and the music of the mpvie SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, like Stayin'alive.
The BEE GEES are the best close harmony singers ever existed.
So finally is the question that starting with perfect harmony-songs, they started sing SO high, and I don't know if there are other bands singing that high.

Of course you can find the definition of "falsetto" on the internet, but almost every thread or topic.
I prefer to learn here about falsetto and why?
- what about your vocal chords.
- will singing falsetto cause problems for the vocal chords
- do you "HAVE IT" or can you "LEARN IT".
- is it a bad thing for your voice?

Michael Jackson, je sings very high too, but besides singing he talks like a woman too, convincing me that he took "female hormones". Being a medical doctor, you even don't need to be a doctor to see his looks.
BEARD? HIGH VOICE (a woman voice) and his "tormented character" by wanting to stay a child.

My brother in law sang falsetto for a couple days after his vasectomy.

Except from loosing his b***, I really don't know how too sing in falsetto, when I went to University, (Oh Lord, I am starting to be an old fart.), it was in 1973 "le moment supreme" of Deep Purple with the mega-hit "CHILD IN TIME", I only remember that I couldn't speak, 1 day later.
So I am intrigued in what is needed to sing falsetto.

WLBAYE, I remember that there were "castrate singers"and a vasectomy will never give you the opportunity to have a high voice. They removed the testicles or at very young age, like 7 8 years old. Or later just before puberty and in those days, a lot of them died, a lack of disinfection, hygiene. HERE A LINK TO CASTRATO SINGERS

The practice of castrating young boys to prevent the onset of puberty and preserve their high voice is one of those bizarre chapters in European cultural history.  Thankfully, this barbaric practice has ended.

Boy's choirs are a far more civilized tradition.  Perhaps the best known ensemble is the Vienna boy's Choir.

The Anglican Church also has a strong tradition of music composed specifically for boy's choirs.  There is a large catalog of music intended to be performed by ensembles of young men.  This music is wonderful and the sound of a well-trained boy's choir is powerful.

Regarding falsetto singing - it takes a nimble, strong, and practiced voice to produce a clear falsetto sound.  Any male can produce a falsetto sound.  If done properly, the larynx is not abused or strained.  However, if done incorrectly you can do damage to the vocal chords.  Singing softly in a falsetto voice is relatively easy - producing a fuller sound takes a lot of control and technique.

Sorry Doc ,I was just joking,we were just giving my in law a hard time,i realize a vasectomy doesn't affect the vocal range,but it sure makes them nervous about their manhood.

To some extent, I think one must be born with it.  Of course, like any good voice, it takes practice, patience, and technique.  However, I think somebody has to talk in a higher register to be able to sing in a higher register.
