Topic: Wake Up

I apologize straight off for not having chords to this.  I woke early this morning to the sound of someone rummaging in the dumpster. I looked out the blind and saw a woman, youngish going through the bin for bottles and cans to exchange for money.  This is everywhere here and it made me angry. So my mates in the States and all fellow Chordies I challenge you to help me with the chords to this. Maybe if you do this it will be your first effort to bring back the pride we have for our country.Dems, Republics, middle roaders, lets speak out. Lets stop the Lady from crying.

Wake Up                                                               m. mcvicker 2008

Early in the morning
there’s nothing else to do
but stop my shivering body
from the coldness and the dew

Underneath the bridge here, we all find a space;
to lay our weary bodies and escape the maddening pace.
I’ll start my route this morning
and ride it all day long,
to find the cans and bottles
that makes my life go on.

  They’re killing us in Afghanistan
  They’re killing us in Iraq
And back here in the States
they’ve got us commoners on our backs.

What were you thinking?
Look at what you’ve done.
From your posh tax paid office, in bloody Washington.
We used to tar and feather;  when we saw snake oil men like you.
To bad that was abolished
You deserve your share too.

  They’re killing us in Afghanistan
  They’re killing us in Iraq
And back here in the States
they’ve got the common man on our backs

I think its time we say something.
In fact its long over due.
What say we kick these punks out of office,
And take back what we know is true.

I was born and raised here, I know what I say.
I was a soldier for my country;  I’d die for her this day.
But when I see this going on around me
I know I have the right
because the freedom I provided,  helped us sleep at night
Oh people can you hear me?
Oh people cant you see?
The woman cries in the harbor ,
“Where can America be?

  They’re killing us in Afghanistan
  They’re killing us in Iraq
And back here in the States
they’ve got us on our backs

I thought ; If I had one idea,
and took it from beginning to end.
I would try another.

Re: Wake Up

Marcalan,

I have to agree, There is no policital Correctness in being down and out.
Hunger and survival is a daily prayer for some. We also have it here.

I do feel Americans are not blind to this. There good at calling a spade a spade. Well the ones i know here on chordie are not afraid to speak out.

Its a well written song with pride for your land and people. Never any shame in thoses feelings.

Dia Linn to you and all who share your homeland.

Old Doll.

Why Blend in with the Crowd ? When you were made to stand out !

Hard lyrics which hold a good deal of truth on both sides of the Atlantic.

Re: Wake Up

Hey Marc - I hope we get our priorities in order soon. Very good lyrics. I haven't tried the chords daddy posted but will tomorrow.

Re: Wake Up

Thanks Peeps for your responses. Thanks for the chording.  I was thinking em to am; thenG to dim D to a Dim A for the chorus but what ever anyone likes the message is the same.  I for one do not intend to spiril down the drain clockwise or counterclockwise.  And to think I was once a republican conservative and voted for this jerk however the alternatives were gloomy at the time.  Oh well my confession...I see things differently now and have my eyes wide open instead of wide shut. And as Lena would say hopefully more able to spot a CHANCER in any party.  Ill keep going on then knowing I have supporters and common minds with me.  Thanks to you lets stop and make a difference like we did in the begining.  marcalan

Re: Wake Up

wow, that's heavy man,

you've certainly got a way with words, and i hope you get this song listened to, and don't we all wish we could dump those lying thieving politicians yes theyre just as bad here in the uk, our petrol [gas] costs us over £5.00 per gallon, you can work out your self how much that is in dollars! and most of it is tax, and the rest is profit for the oil companies.

anyway i agree, it's time we all woke up

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.
