kinda like this list
ok...i guess this can be my first submission to the board-pleasure to be here...been enjoying the site for a long time and finally joined
here's my top five in no particular order:
Jerry Garcia
Johnny Greenwood
Trey Anastasio
Nels Cline
Andrés Segovia
this list changes almost daily but these are the guys who have been making my hear weep note after note lately
plus...i'm just spouting off my opinion here, but kurt cobain, bradley nowell and kurt hammet are terrible guitar players!!!
also, just my opinion here again, but how can people listen to guys like buckethead and yngvie(sp???) malmstein(sp??) and all those other wanking musical masterbators who seem like they play a million notes a second to offset their small penis'??
way to offend everyone on your first post vince!!
i hope no one took anything too seriously
Welcome to the Chordie forum bittermusicsnob! Great first post - no need to be shy around here, tell us how you really feel
I agree with your sentiments regarding the musical masterbators - that said, the fact that I own an old red convertible muscle car does not necessarily reflect in any way the size of my manhood. LOL

Great Choices...I love the way Trey Anastasio just jams! Segovia is a study in true mastery of the instrument! Yngvie? He's just a technician with no espression or feeling...self absorbed ego...I think you pegged it right! jg
Clapton
Jeff Beck
Carlos Santana
Joe Walsh
Hendrix
In no particular order except for Clapton as numero uno. I guess I'm showing my age.
Can't argue with that list at all baron - we must be about the same age
Welcome to Chordie!
1.JIMI PAIGE
2.ANGUS YOUNG
3.Eddie Van Halen
4.Slash

There have been thousands of great players.
Right now , there are hundreds more, playing alone.
They will never be heard of outside a small circle of friends. And they would smoke anybody that any of us have listed.

2. Keith Richards (Stones)
3. Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi)
4. Angus Young (AC/DC)
5. Klaus "Major" Heuser (BAP)
You're rightt... it can't be narrowed down. After reading some of these lists, I said "Damn, forgot Stevie Ray, or Johnny Winter, or Bloomfield, or B.B., or....
I give up, they're all great; it just depends on what you're in the mood for.
There are so many...can't narrow it down anymore...just got back from the Dallas guitar show last weekend and saw some phenomenal players... Will Ray, Doyle Dykes (acoustic), Michael Ault (with Paul Reed Smith), Bugs Henderson, David Grissom, Johnny Hiland, and Johnny A...all are tremdous players... One note of interest...Yngwie Malsteen played a set on the Fender Stage and many people walked back inside...about two or three minutes of his furious shredding and ego was a turn-off!

5. Jimmy Page - If you don't know this name, put your guitar down. Now.

Iasac Brock
Lightnin Hopkins
Keb Mo'
John Lee Hooker
