Topic: Raising my action..!

Well I got this Ibanez for free from a friend, but the action was really high and hard to play. So I got it lowered.   He took twice as long as he should of, and he did a pathetic job, so now it's always buzzing. I usually play with light strings, but I switched to medium to see if that would help. It did a bit, but I don't wanna try hard and it's still buzzes a lot.
My question:
Is there much more involved in raising the action other than putting in a new saddly thingy, lowering it to the desired height, gluing in back in, and restringing it? cuz I've been thinking about doing it myself.

many thanks!

Re: Raising my action..!

Hi Linus ,
You should be able to just lift the saddle out and put a shim under it . if you have a decent music store in your neighborhood , they shoud have shims . Just make sure the shim and the bottom of the bridge saddle is flat . I've seen some real butcher jobs done on bridge saddles . Also the bridge saddle should not be glued in . it's made that way for easy servicing .
Another tip , whenever I service a bridge saddle , I put a capo on right in front of the nut ( the thing that the strings sit in up by the headstock ) . This keeps all the strings in place when you loosen them and take out the bridge pins , makes the whole job easier ............
   Hope this helps .......

Re: Raising my action..!

Is it Acoustic or Electric? It's really easy to change the action on an Electric, harder with acoustic.

Re: Raising my action..!
