Topic: "Stuck in the Middle"

This song is a little tune about how now a days you have a long way to go in life after living for what may seem a life time already so I think it is best to savor every minute and not worry what if anything is coming.

Stuck in the Middle By Jeff Gilpin

April 11th, 2008

Verse 1

[D]My birth is so far be[G]hind me

[D]My death is far off a[A]head [G]

Re[D]minders a plenty that[G] I see

The [D]young the [A]old and the [D]dead [A]

Verse 2

[D]I don't let it af[G]fect me

Or [D]alter how I live my [A]life [G]

Be[D]cause life is too [G]fleeting

To [D]burden with [A]any more [D]strife [A]

Chorus

With [G]plenty of [A]life be[D]hind me

[G]There's plenty more 'til it's [A]done

With [D]life a big riddle I'm [G]stuck in the middle

[D]Wondering what [A]else is to [D]come [A]

Verse 3

[D]Youth was filled with sur[G]prises

Yet [D]I look back on it with [A]joy [G]

I [D]made it through all the steep [G]rises

[D]During my [A]time as a [D]boy [A]

Verse 4

A[D]dulthood came on a[G]bruptly

With [D]challenges new and [A]complex [G]

[D]Learning to be respon[G]sible

To be [D]ready for [A]what would come [D]next [A]

Chorus

With [G]plenty of [A]life be[D]hind me

[G]There's plenty more 'til it's [A]done

With [D]life a big riddle I'm [G]stuck in the middle

[D]Wondering what [A]else is to [D]come [A]

Verse 5

So [D]I've made it to the [G]middle

Though [D]older not too worse for [A]ware [G]

I [D]still haven't solved life's big [G]riddle

But at [D]this point I [A]really don't [D]care [A]

Verse 6

[D]I love my friends and my [G]family

[D]Live life without holding [A]back [G]

[D]Whatever's ahead I guess [G]I'll see

[D]If at my [A]age I can [D]hack [A]

Chorus

With [G]plenty of [A]life be[D]hind me

[G]There's plenty more 'til it's [A]done

With [D]life a big riddle I'm [G]stuck in the middle

[D]Wondering what [A]else is to [G]come [A] [D]

ye get some that are cut out for the job and others just get by from pretending

Re: "Stuck in the Middle"

Hey Ken - Thanks. Sometimes I try to fit too much into a song but I think I got this one right.

Take care.

Re: "Stuck in the Middle"

I also had a wee strum along to it, good work smile

Re: "Stuck in the Middle"

Jeff,
Great lyrics ! Your rhyming cadence makes it easy to sing this song. I mean this in a complimentary way. 3 chords and a cloud of dust ! Sometimes that's all that's needed. Well done Jeff, thanks for sharing.

Give everything but up.

Re: "Stuck in the Middle"

Thanks Alex and Toney - I didn't realize when I was thinking of it but you are right Toney. It is also easy to fix lots of vocal ranges.

Why Blend in with the Crowd ? When you were made to stand out !

Re: "Stuck in the Middle"

Hey Lena - Thanks, I will let you know. Most likely a good Sunday project I think, so maybe next weekend. It's fairly easy to sing and play. It'll be a good one for FoC.
