Topic: I have narrowed down my problem..What do I do now? AMP PROBLEMS

I have a Taylor 414ce and recently I was very stumped as to why I was picking up radio stations. I tried everything to get it to play right, starting with messing with the levels, changing cords, changing amps..I then plugged in my Ibanez GAX 70 with the same two cords I tried with my Taylor. On both amps, the guitar played perfect. No radio sound.

I have now confirmed it is my Taylor.. The guitar is less than a year old to me, bought new. I use a Monster acoustic cable, actually bought it because I was hearing distortion and thought my cable was going bad.

I have a warranty but don't know what to do.

Maybe this is something I can fix myself? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Hi Fred ,
   Don't mess with it if it's under warranty . Now is as good a time as any to find out if that warranty is worth the paper it's written on . Return it to the dealer and let them deal with it . You paid too much for that guitar to have to fix it your self . Not only that , but if you do mess with it , and still end up taking it in , they'll have something to say about that .
   Interesting problem though , I've heard of wireless units doing that but never a guitar .

where you plug your jack into the guitar body there is a nut - make sure that the nut is tight

vibration there, can cause interference

otherwise as above

Hi Fred , i guess what has happened is one of your  internal wires has turned itself into an aerial receiver , these vhf signals/noise should have been earthed or screened out , if it`s still under warranty don`t touch it as Gse says , but it is an interesting problem indeed .

hmm I'll tell you I can relate to this problem
I have a 314ce 3 months old, bought an amp for it, Fender Acoustasonic. Annoying static and popping, only on the instrument channel on the amp, not the mic one, tried different cables and stuff, assumed it was the aux input, so sent er back to fender to get a new one and now its doing the same.
So im thinking it might be somewhere in that Taylor Expression System, so Im thinking of sendin er in and seein what Taylor can do about it.

However, radio sound is a completely new and interesting problem..
so I'd say maybe try sending er in?

Hey all, I would like to say thank you to everyone here for the input, and most of all Doug at Morning star music for his expertise.

The problem....Dead battery..I had no idea this guitar had a battery. Johncross was probably right with the nut because I believe that is where the batteries are hiding.

The thing I wasnt expecting was to pay for dead batteries. $29.75 I really hope they didnt charge me labor, because THAT should have been under warranty from Taylor. Oh well, I am just happy to have my baby back. I was really going through withdrawls not having it for the three days it was in the shop. Guy had ALOT of work to take care of.. Good thing he enjoys working on Taylors and "bumped" mine to the top.

Well, got some playing to catch up on. Thanks again all!
