Topic: understanding tads etc

hi ive just been told about this web site which i fine brill it has every song ive ever wanted to play. as im just learning to play the guitar. Could sombody please help me out? Im having trouble understand tabs. I know that a no-: 2 means the second fret etc but what do ^ mean  and also when you have 2 no-: on the same fret dose this mean its a cord or pluck them one after the other as you can see im in a bit of a mess so HELP me out please I dont know how to recive the replys so please e mail me ...thanks alot
