Apart from the ones written by James McCormick, Jeff Gilpin, Helena Donovan and the other Chordie songwriters (including myself, of course) it has got to be:
BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY by QUEEN
Roger
Oh, what slaya forgot to mention is that anybody who mentions Bohemian Rhapsody will be banned for life from Chordie!
Add Stairway to Heaven to that list, bonedaddy.
I like "Closer To The Heart" by Rush.
....Badeye.
I'd go for 'Jesus of Suburbia' - Green Day.
'Hound Dog' by Elvis is another possibility though, if you're after an older one.
Another one to add to the banned list: Smoke on the Water.
It's gotta be "Aint Gonna Bump No More With No Big Fat Woman" by Joe Tex..........
............or maybe "It's Hard To Kiss Those Lips at Night That Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long" by The Notorious Cherry Bombs
"Baby, that is Rock 'n' Roll" by the Coasters.
wtf... i mean that its so good its like an drug and you begin to cry when you hear it.
ive got 2 songs like that : caribbean blue by enya, and so long ago so clear by vangelis.
You guys got to hear them. im vrying when i hear them because it minds me about my dead cat morris.......peace of her (it was an her but my sister wanted it to name morris) memory....
Ask Jack Black, he'll know...
Stolen by Dashboard Confessional.
Basing it solely on my love for sweet guitar playing, Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover tops my list. Basing it everything, not just guitar, I'd have to say No More Lonely Nights by Paul McCartney. One more, not just because it's on Guitar Hero, Through The Fire and Flames.

Ahhhh yes ... VERY good song paddycake! Love it!
I'd put "yesterday" in there too but I'd have to mention "Desperado" by the Eagles which gets more and more magnificent every time I hear it....
Shane
For songs I would have to pick epic ballads such as:
Like a Rolling Stone, Bob Dylan
Born To Run, Bruce Springsteen
Tangled Up In Blue, Dylan again
And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda, Eric Bogel
For instrumental music, I am quite fond of the 20th century composer Alan Hovhaness.
His orchestral compositions are vivid and fresh with every hearing. Even if you have never been a fan of 'serious' music - his compositions are truly amazing.
yeah desperado great tune awesome lyrics
stairway to heaven led zep
golden slumbers beatles
live forever oasis
In My Life by the Beatles
'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' by George Harrison, you get a beautiful acoustic lily of a song gilded to perfection by the woman tone of Eric Clapton.
I don't know about the best song ever, but I can bet you've never heard one like "Deathbed" by Relient K.
One of my personal favorites is "Name" by Googoo Dolls. But all the old classics are great too- and Desperado is definitely up there!
Really, it's impossible to pick the best song of all time because there are SO many great songs out there that can mean so much to you at different times in your life- music is the best!
Enchanted by Genesis
paranoid android by radiohead
one metallica
cowboys do more dope rebel meets rebel
KILLING IN THE NAME RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
