Topic: Brightly Dressed Guitarist At Crossroads Festival

OK, this guy has a face like a prune and scrunches it up alot when playing (looks really obscene) and he has the loudest hawaiian sort of shirts, bright clashing colour trousers and flourescent yellow/green sneakers. Sort of the rodeo clown of the guitar world. Who am I remembering? Saw the festival video on Sky Arts but couldn't pin down this player. It's driving me nuts...

Dont know about the ugly clothes, but the scrunching if a prune like face?
Hmm... Could it be Gary Moore.
Remember him? he used to do metal but is now much more blues orientated.

Re: Brightly Dressed Guitarist At Crossroads Festival

I think it could be  Joe Walsh, he is on the crossroad dvd and wears a coloured shirt and yellow shoes.

Yeap, Cytania thats Joe. Some earlier bands he played in are "Barnstorm" and "The James Gang" and of course "The Eagles". Got a chance to see him live in the USA in 1997. Had a great time on our Joe Walsh trip. We watched him two nights and he wore some crazy outfits as well. Plays great guitar.Glad to help.

Re: Brightly Dressed Guitarist At Crossroads Festival

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes. During a radio interview, Joe was asked about his experience when The James Gang toured with Jimi Hendrix. I don't have the exact quote, but it was something like -  I really don't remember that tour, but I know we did it - I have the poster!

That's rock-n-roll big_smile

Re: Brightly Dressed Guitarist At Crossroads Festival

Thats Joe Topdown, He appeared on the Drew Carry Show a few times and I was fortunate to tape them. The night he played in Hamptom Beach Casino he played 12 different guitars and rocked. A couple nites later in Plattsburg,NY, at the end of the show the band threw about 100 tennis balls into the crowd, I maneged to get a six pack of em. Been a Joe Walsh fan for a while.

have a good one ....Badeye

Re: Brightly Dressed Guitarist At Crossroads Festival

Badeye - I saw a couple of those Drew Carey shows and Joe was a riot. They had formed some hotel bar band, right? Joe definitely seems like the kind of guy I'd like to have a beer with. I have a limo, ride in the trunk...lol.

Funny stuff Topdown. Ordinary Average Guys. When in Plattsburg we stoped and borrowed two huge Joe Walsh signs that were tied to a chain link fence promoting the concert .oops still have em. He puts on a real great show.I
hear the Eagles are coming to Moncton, New Brunswick in july. May just have to go see Joe again.

Take care...Badeye.
