Topic: HERITAGE VERSUS GIBSON and TOKAI?

I believe most of us know this story.
When the Gibson plant left KALAMAZOO, their worker's could move with Gibson (now in Nashvile and Memphis), some of them collected money and started building guitars "in the tradition of the Gibson mentality.
So these people staid and started building "HERITAGE".
- Are these guitars real good?
- Did they have problems with Gibson, like law suits?

Re: HERITAGE VERSUS GIBSON and TOKAI?

I remember years ago going into a music store looking at Gibsons and the saleman handed me a Heritage...excellent guitar...well crafted and great sound. Then he starts the sales pressure...  He then told my that the Guitar was endorsed by the music group The Bangles... I handed him the guitar and left

Thanks Jay, I don't know an answer, since I really doubt if there is a store in BELGIUM, selling Heritage.
Do they use different pick-ups?
DO you know that a TOKAI Les Paul goes higher in price than a Gibson LP standard made in the same year? Some musicians did even prefer a TOKAI (speaking of years ago)

Re: HERITAGE VERSUS GIBSON and TOKAI?

WOW, Jay thanks man. Isn't it nice a site like this? I saw many sites, BUT NEVER like CHORDIE.
Can you imagine how many "active" members are here? The NUMBER tells us enough, and DON'T FORGET, it's all about playing music, (most for guitar players) AND comparing this with similar sites, and a LIMITED range= guitar, songs.. it is like a dream. On 100.000 people how many would play guitar? 10.000 - 20.000 is my guess. Every single chordian contributes his/her knowledge, skill, wonderful, it's like a big family. I went seeing other sites, last topic and answer inn 2005.
Thanks for the link.
To END: who played a TOKAI (the 100% Gibson copy), the rumour is that TOKAI is very good and they are even "COLLECTED", resulting in a high price.
