Topic: My G string

Hello again guitar extrodinairs. My question this time is about my g string. Every time I play it, it sounds either to sharp or to flat. When I try to get it in tune, my tuner registers it as an A string! This makes me very angry because now when I play my guitar beyond the 5th fret, it's (I guess you would say) more sharp than past the 5th fret of my b. Can any one help with this issue?

Re: My G string

There's something "thong" with your tuner

it sounds as though your g is  a full tone sharp (in which case just slacken it off until it registers as a G on your tuner)

if that fails try tuning the G string 4th fret (which should sound B) to B using the tuner

Re: My G string

Thanks for the help. Apparently when I tried to time it down to a G I hadn't gone low enough. Thanks for the help, now I can play some songs without going crazy with the terrible sound.

Re: My G string

I got the exact same problem except different. My "D" string sometimes wants show up on my tuner as "A". What I did to fix the problem was to replace the batteries. Now it works fine. Not sure this is your problem but it worked for me.

Re: My G string

Has anyone ever heard what it sounds like when a G-string slips too far down? "Ooo la la" and a whistling sound from the male bystanders.

Sorry folks, I'm German -we do like corny jokes.
Play on!

Re: My G string

It's even worse if you put your g-string on backwards................................

Give everything but up.

I love big fat Germans on holiday in Thailand, in search for "love", and it get worse, they do wear a String.
If your tuner gives wrong information, try to tune your guitar "BY EAR", or go to some websites showing a guitar tuner on line. I have a FENDER tubing device and a KORG. Even on my amp is a tuner and on every floorboard. THERE IS ALWAYS A DIFFERENCE between every tuner.
I was in my music store yesterday, I asked about Gibson robotic: they had 10 robotics GONE IN ONE DAY. They tune automatic, provide a lot more, and for those who hate "automatic" you can do the same as on a non robotic Gibson. They seem to sound great. Here some links:

I really hope this helps.
