Re: tis the season to help a newbie

Merry Christmas noise!  I don't know what your lovely lady's musical preferences might be, but you can never go wrong with a beautiful lullaby.  So, try "Silent Night" because it uses only 3 chords.  Plus the melodic line is truly lovely.

See the Christmas Songbook section and look for my posting there - 'Christmas Carols".  There is a correct and complete version of the song in there.  Hope you (and your lovely lady) have a deeply gratifying holiday experience.

Re: tis the season to help a newbie

HI,

I was looking at christmas songs to sing in church for a performance and alot of what I was looking at (traditional) LOOKS complicated but most isn't really.

If you see something you fancy playing just try and transpose it to an easier key and then use a capo to bring it to your pitch of voice if you need to. Transposing is easy and will let you know how if you like.

As for songs, Silent night, as suggested is a good one also the Elvis Presley version of White Christmas is pretty cool if you can sing it that way and its only 3 chords! (look in my song book on here).

Adios

Afternoon!

I learnt Silent Night a couple of weeks ago, but it was a really nice arpeggio version.  The link to the guitar lesson that i followed is below.  It looks pretty complicated at first, but stick with it and it soon makes sense and it sounds lovely too.  I reckon with maybe an hour or so per night, you should have it licked within a week or so!  Plenty of time to sit your missus down in front of the fire and woo her with your christmas romanticism!! <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_twisted.gif" border=0 alt="Twisted Evil">  lol!

Anyone else had a go at this one?  What do you think?

Have fun!

Strongly recomend looking at James' Christmas Carol book. I've used it for a few and it's great.

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Re: tis the season to help a newbie

Write one, incorporate what you feel about your lady and the christmas season, express the love you feel for her. Do it with the chords and melodies you already know. It may not be a chart topper but she'll probley blow your top. (no sexual induendo entended).  She'll see how much you really love her, enough to write a song for and about her.

Gool luck!
