Topic: easy songs to play
hey
i've been playing guitar for about two months now and progressing really well. i can play basic chords (a,e,c,g,am,em,d,dm,) struggling on barre chords though. but can someone please tell me some easy songs to play

Hi there,
I have been playing for about 10 months now and straight away jumped in feet first and learnt a fairly hard Damien Rice tab, i was well impressed with myself. I than moved on to an Eva Cassidy tab which made me fall flat on my face. That being the case I have been trying this song on and off for the past 6 months - without success, and have ended up after 10 months not being able to play much at all!
What i need to do now is go back to basics and learn some fairly easy 3 or 4 chord songs and MAKE IT FUN AGAIN!!
James McCormick's answer to the post on this forum entitled SOMETHING I NOTICED is great! I am now going to try some of the songs he is suggesting and i think you should too.

As said stick with the basic chords and there are heaps of songs to play. Almost any song can be broken down to a more simplistic version or transposed to make it easier to play.
Being an oldies fan myself much of the 50's and 60's music can be played using E, E7, A7 and B7 and playing 12 bar blues is always a good thing to learn as well.
As always, just enjoy what you are doing and practise often and you will improve, its just hard to believe that sometimes when we are stuck. Adios

Wonderwall by Oasis is really pretty easy to do and it sounds great. You need a Capo for it though. The chords are a bit fancy but they are easy to finger and it'll give your little finger something to do. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">

You can also sham through songs with Bs and Fs using cheats. For F make the shape but just lay for first finger on the last two strings rather than having to stretch it out for a barre and strum without hitting the low E string.
For Bm make the same shape but one string down and one fret down. Avoid the low E and A strings. Look to plant your ring and little fingers together on the fourth fret spot and the other two come down behind. Alot of songs use Bm as a passing highpoint so this rough cheat shouldn't show up too badly.
Of course it can become a bad habit so push on learning barres anyway.

U ONLY USE SCALES FOR LEAD AND THEN U NEED A BACKING TRACK OR BAND BEHIND U OR IT SOUNDS RUBBISH BUT IF U LEARN THE SCALES U PLAY A BACKING TRACK PLAY WHAT U WANT MAKE IT FIT U WILL HERE WHEN IT WRONG SO TRY A DIFFRENT NOTE ETC IF U GET ME THATS WHY MOST GUITARIST PLAY BLUES BECAUSE ITS EASY TO FOLLOW AND MOSTY SLOW AND BECAUSE TO JOE PUBLIC THEY ARE GOD. BUT AS U GET BETTER U WILL REALLISE WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND LAUGHT.

It's been said on here somewhere before but it's still a good call....... check out the published songbooks here on Chordie, there are some great songs in some of them and you usually find some that tickle your fancy.
Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??
