I deleted the previous topic, because of no response, probably due to a bad written topic.
ABOUT TAKING CARE FOR YOUR GUITAR
This topic had a purpose and could maybe provide information for a lot of CHORDIANS.
ELECTRIC GUITARS:
- How to clean it , NOT ONLY THE OUTSIDE, but the INSIDE TOO.
- Maintenance
- Neck Adjustment or Truss Rod Adjustment
- Bridge adjustment
- Pickup Height Adjustment

WHEN IS THIS REQUIRED?
- Having 2 guitars without a cover on the humbuckers. In my case what can I do:
- A Gibson SG menace, faded, a fantastic sound as
- A gibson Flying V, faded worn cherry and a decent price = $699.00
- A Gibson SG menace price = $799.99   
The pick-ups of those guitars are "naked", close to strings and if you touch the pick-ups, they move.
Should a cover be useful, to protect the pick-ups?

doc some would disagree but i prefer the covers any adjustments i usually go to my friend at the music store where i buy my gear he has some top notch specialist who handle that department all the rest of the maintenence i can handle.

I clean them when I put new strings on them.  It makes it easy to polish the bridge and nut, and get the pups all shiny again.

Thanks, and what about bridge, neck, is this important for playing your electric? I read sometimes that someone who buys a guitar, brigs it back to the music store, and change "the position" of the bridge.
Why is this done, does it affect in a positive way your "sound"?

for adjusting the harmonics  by changing the string length or to lower the action (string height above the frets)

The Dot has a floating bridge, so it needs little adjustment.

I have that done for me, anyway.  Except on Frankentar.  I do all that work myself.

Adjusting the bridge is for intonation. To make sure your guitar plays in tune. ex. the open E is also an E at the 12th fret. and same with all other strings. If your string length is to long or short you will have sharps or flats at the 12 fret. adjusting your bridge will correct this problem.

The 2 Gibson's (from the 7) are
- Gibson Flying V : THIS SHOULD BE THE WET DREAM FOR THE HARD ROCKERS. see coils.
- Gibson SG menace.
Both have cover, and when you touch them, they move.
These guitars like a GIBSON FLYING V is "cheap" compared to a lot of other guitars BUT IT STILL COST YOU: 699$, same for a Gibson SG (a faded standard)

A floating bidge is one that isn't permaently attached to the guitar, it "floats" on top of the body, the pressure of the strings holding it in place.  You see this a lot on archtops and guitars with tailpieces (like a Bigsby).  Both my Gretsches have floating bridges.
