Re: What songs are you currently working on?

I'm currently putting the finishing touches on "Good People" by Jack Johnson. Also working on "TRY" by ALO and "Let it be Sung" by Matt Costa. Those are the ones taking up the majority of my play time...There's always a hundred others that get practiced from time to time...lol

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

a song melodie waifed from thin air and i coulden't get it off my mind so i grabed a sheet of music paper and my guitar and several minutes passed and i had a foundation for the song so i laid the accustic tracks and after listning the title "sloppy joes" came to mind and i pictured a bar kind of like a road house and the words kinda wrote themselves so i overlaid some distored electric tracks with some sustain and im still working on it.

Hi Tim0473,
Like Russell Harding, I am working on some original stuff.  Had big plans for doing lots of projects around the house on this day off (MLK Day), but mostly just relaxed and took it easy.

Found a scrap of an idea in my song writing notebook - a scribble really - and have been playing with the idea this evening.  Tentatively entitled "My Cowbelle".

Someday, it might actually be a song - but not quite yet!

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

I found a guy who sings elvis tunes -
Really good - looks nothing like him but - boy what an impersonator....
We're going to sing at a party in three week - so I'm learning Elvis tunes on my acoustic... as well as the usual practice for the band songs.

Good luck James!  I actually wrote an original riff a week ago ... me and two co-workers played on Friday and Sunday ... it actually sounded pretty good with a bass line added to it ... now I realize why it takes artists so damn long to write a song!

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

tim keep writting and writting some songs are easier the melodies and words come fast but others only bits and pieces fall into place and thats when its harder and recording can be bliss or a nightmare sometimes inspireation doesn't transfer to the recording as fast as you thought it would but any idea is worth developing and the time and effort

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

Very well said, Russell!

One thing I have learned about creating songs is that it takes real effort.  Flashes of inspiration must be followed up with determined effort.  For me, the process only works if I do it every day.  Some days things 'click', other days not much seems to happen.  But without deliberate and regular effort, nothing would ever make progress.

By the way, 'My Cowbelle' is taking shape - a few good lines and ideas, but lots of refinement is necessary.  I think this one will emerge soon.

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

NO SONGS.
Just taking my acoustic, playing eyes pointed to infinity, and strumming, even some finger picking. Electric guitar room is even closed.

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

Been banging out a ton of original stuff with the band.  Personally, I've been working on bluegrass spirituals.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

Since being directed to and using a free downloaded programe called "Audacity" (I must admit it was James who put me onto Audacity but not directly. Thanks James)
I've exclusively been working on guitar based instrumental music of my own.
Hence no original song posts in the songwriting section for a while as it is a lyric based forum.

Anyone who wants to try a multi track recorder to use on the computer for free try Audacity it's a great tool for song recording and converting to mp3 for nothing.

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

Cool deal guys ... it'll be nice to see what comes up when you're all done ... one thing I've been wanting to find out is this; I used to write poems, etc ... now when it comes to writing songs ... is there a format???  I know it sounds odd

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

How are you using Audacity as a recorder?  I use to to do all our mixing, but we use a multi-track recorder to get the tracks, and then transfer them to Audacity.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

I was working on an acoustic version of Blondie's "Dreaming" this weekend--easy song, sounds pretty good on the acoustic.  Working on a couple Toad the Wet Sprocket songs--"Something's always wrong" and "All I want".  On the electric, I'm working on a couple Offspring songs & I'm working on a bunch of old songs, but trying to play them with different chords from the fifth fret up on my electric.

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

i have the audacity program but like jerome i do all the mixing before i rip the cd to media player and im at a loss how to utilize the audicity, i downloaded the manual but have'nt really had time to dig into it so i cant really voice an opinion pro or con

Re: What songs are you currently working on?

Well I use an old four track recorder as an interface plugging the guitar, mircophone and keyboard into it. Then I connect the four track directly into the computer audio in on the sound card.
I don't use the four track to record the tracks as Audacity records the input from the four track onto one track. Then I play the recorded track while recording another track. The most tracks I have recorded this way is three but I don't think theres a limit to the number of tracks you can record this way.
It's made the old 4track tape recorder redundant.

Hope this explains somewhat

Hi russ will have listen to your new song an email you later
