Topic: MYSTERIOUS UNKNOWN BRANDS

I don't think that a similar topic exists. Since I have plenty of time, I am surfing a lot on the internet
Now and then, I find guitars, really good looking and not so cheap brands.
I discovered a few minutes ago some brands
- MICHAEL KELLY: Never heard of it, and reasonable prices: $469.99 for a Michael Kelly Patriot Black Electric Guitar. Also producing acoustic guitars.
- MATON GUITARS: an Australian brand, also never heard about this branded, discovered while reading an article about Tommy Emmanuel, a superb finger picking performer, seen on youtube. You can check it = great sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: MYSTERIOUS UNKNOWN BRANDS

December's 'Guitar and Bass magazine' did a big feature on Maton. They make a point of using Australian woods, which means they have a guarranteed supply and unique names. They also seem to specialise in semi types. Having said that I've never seen one in any of the 5 or 6 shops I frequent.

Re: MYSTERIOUS UNKNOWN BRANDS

I got to play a Michael Kelly "HYBRED" guitat when I was working in Oklahoma City, Ok at a music store. This guitar is unique in that while having the appearance of an electric guitar (kinda semi hollow body) you can get sounds you would expect from an acoustic and by flippin' a switch you get the screaming eletric sounds you expect from a lead "ROCK" guitar. Really unique. Just do a search for Michael Kelly Guitars to find out more. They make all kinds of stringed instrument, electric, acoustic guitars, mandolins, acoustic basses, etc. Check them out.

Hybrids are quite the happening thing this century, Taylor have their T5 and Ovation have the VXT. Guitarist magazine wants to call them superguitars and adds in things like the VG strat that do acoustic emulation.

Phil,

I have been planting seed on the Michael Kelly's ever since my friend got sponsered by them and I heard the Ademption sound byte on there website. I am finally buying one this week can't make up my mind on the Patriot Custom or Valor X. Played the Patriot Q, Vintage & Limited have not Played the Valor yet. Leaning towards a walnut stained flame top maple Patriot Custom.
Will decide & order this week.

Re: MYSTERIOUS UNKNOWN BRANDS

Boot, mi amigo, I could ask it right on that other topic about a meeting. I go since 2months very early to bed 21.15, weird, I had a dream, familiar frase, about the chordian reunion. All of you had even faces. Why this story: because I would come from Brussels to the USA, and if the $$ is still so magnificent low for us, I'll buy a guitar right there.
The big brands = THE GREAT 3, even seeing that some acoustic models like takamine sell better. It's logic too = WHO HAS THE MONEY or GETS that MONEY, being 13-14 years old. I certainly didn't start with a Gibson, oeps sorry, I did BUT ELECTRIC. Acousdtic a YAMAHA F??, it is weird that this guitar hasn't moved in price since 30 years. SHOULD we able to have sponsors, like a new brand, not so big, but VERY GOOD, I really want so bad a "custom" made guitar about that, we kn,ow eachother.
Thanks boot.

Re: MYSTERIOUS UNKNOWN BRANDS

In fact what I wrote has nothing to do with UNKNOWN BRANDS.
I discovered some more
- GOYA guitars
- on www.edromanguitars.com you find different brands, with ED's comment, that his guitars, like Quicksilver, are a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT better than every other brand.
- DUESENBERG: Anyone experience here?
