Re: Electric???????

a fender strat is as good  a place as any to start

loads of postings here about guitars - depends on your  price range

Re: Electric???????

I agrre with john, the Strat is a good place to start off. I have a squire strat which is nice too if the Fender price is too high. And of course any les paul is awesome, but it really depends on what style you're wanting to play. For a country style you can't beat a tele, for heavy stuff you might even look into washburns.... just try a few out and see which sound you like.

Re: Electric???????

Fender, Gibson and PRS are the big names GF, you will find better value for money outside of them (although the great thing with Fenders is replacement parts). Have you narrowed down what sort of electric you want? The strat shape is the closest to an all-rounder. Pickups will make a big difference, single coil will give you screaming highs, humbuckers will give give you ballsy, growling mid/bass. Try a Squire Affinity or Yamaha Pacifica or more up the price scale a Tokai.

Re: Electric???????

Good answers! My opinion is that the Fender Stratocaster and Gibson Les Paul set the standards for everything else...course that comment can generate tons of opinion and discourse. Each has it's own sound and playability and many others have copied them. Then along comes fine Guitars like the PRS that creates it's own standards and does a bit of each. I would agree that the Fender Strat is a great place to start...there are probably at least 50 or more current variations but the American made Strat with 3 single coil pickups is a very versitile guitar that is reasonably affordable. For less money the Mexican Made Fender Strat is a good value. I have a pretty good collection of guitars and chose the Strat because of my preferences and also it is about half the price of the Gibson Les Paul.

Re: Electric???????

Austin makes a fine line of very reasonably priced guitars.
