Delay Pedals

Hey there, im looking to get a good delay pedal, ive been playing about 2 1/2 -3 years, though most people say im better than that.

Anyway, a birthday of mine is coming up (nov 1st) and i was looking into treating myself to a delay pedal, so i was wondering what i should look for, as in price, quality and stuff.

The local music shop has a Danelectrico pedal, which i've played through and is pretty good, but im more attracted to a Boss delay pedal, despite the higher cost. Ive heard the Boss pedals work the best, and the longest, and are a great deal. Anyone have one such Boss delay pedal, and any tips on it? what i should expect to pay?

Or, anyone have an alternative? maybe a cheaper brand that does the same stuff?
