Hey Dino - Thanks. Yep, my son went back over for his second tour back in November. He is a lot busier this time around so I'm hoping it will make the time go a little faster for him. It's still going to creep along for me I'm sure. I hope you and your's have a great Christmas.
As always lovely song jets.
This song here im ofton asked to sing around christmas time. Have you ever heard it jets?. The words speak for themselves.
Begs the question " do we ever learn anything from history?

1915 on Christmas Day,
On the Western front the guns all died away.
And lying in the mud on bags of sand
We heard the German sing from No Man's Land.
He had a tenor voice so pure and true;
The words were strange, but every note we knew.
Soaring o'er the living, dead and damned,
A German sang of peace from No Man's Land.
They left their trenches, we left ours.
Beneath tin hats the smiles bloomed like wild flowers.
With photos, cigarettes and pots of wine,
We built a soldier's truth on the front line.
Their singer was a lad of twenty-one;
We begged another song before the dawn,
And sitting in the mud and blood and fear,
He sang again the song all longed to hear.
Silent night, no cannons roar.
A king is born of peace forevermore.
All's calm, all's bright, all brothers hand in hand,
In 19 and 15 in No Man's Land.
In the morning all the guns boomed in the rain,
And they killed us and we killed them again
That night they charged, we fought them hand to hand
And I killed the boy who sang from No Man's Land.
Silent night, no cannons roar,
A king is born of peace forevermore.
All's calm, all's bright, all brothers hand in hand.
And that young soldier sings
and the song of peace still rings
Where the captains and all the kings
Built No Man's Land.
Sleep in heavenly peace...
Peace.
Hey Lena - Actually I have heard the story behind this song and there was a movie made about it called "Joyeux Noël" back in 2005 that I saw and did a pretty good job capturing the moment (thanks to Netflix for letting me find it). Being a bit of a crazed football fan I often search out movies with football and I guess both the Carol and later a football match happend during this battle in the war. I recommend this if you ever get the chance to see it. It is a good story for people who like to think about the human side of war, like me. I would love to hear you sing this if you would like to post it on your site I would be forever in your debt (no pressure though as I think I owe you a song or twenty myself). Thanks and have a Merry Christmas.
Hey Jeff,
Another great tune. A song similar in topic recently came out;
What do you all think about this song? I think it is fantastic. Billy wrote this tune and hired 21yr old Cass to perform the tune. Billy thought it would have more impact with a younger person(around the same age as the average soldier) singing the tune. Please listen to the tune and relay your thoughts....

Well, Billy Joel's song is a bit darker than mine I must say. I've kind of focused on the solders' reasons for being over there and their side of this war without dwelling on the political reasons why the solders are there. I think I might have treaded a darker path if I had mixed the whole political side into the song. I really worry about our kids who are over there and who take the monetary reenlistment incentives that are being offered and end up serving multiple tours in a place that is not very safe. It's kind of like a high stake gamble.
hi jeff you'll have to slow down with all these posts my monitor is down so i'm behind at catching up we borrowed our sons till we get ours sorted ,only kidding its a pleasure to read your posts ...stay cool
