Topic: a late night Friday afternoon

I have not got any chords for this yet, I even forgot all about this song.
I cannot remember writing it but i do know that there are no spelling mistakes, I would have wrote those words down deliberatly to be sung with a scot's slang accent

A late night Friday afternoon

I was feeling fine at quarter to nine
My belly fu’ and I was drinkin’ red wine
Wid’nay be long till it was time
So I got to get movin on
Get me my coat made a’ mink and stoat
Its smells of a luxury fishing boat
I should have bought a coat made a’ goat
But this will dae me just fine

CHORUS
On a late nicht Friday efternin
The morn’ could’nay come aroond tae soon
Wae  a heid like a drum I feel like a bum
I smoke so much my breath smells like a lum

I was seeing double but did’nay see yon trouble
Until it came up behind me and burst ma bubble
I had nae razor so I got designer stubble
I must remember to shave the morra
They took all my money they thought it was funny
Left me looking like a wrecked easter bunny
At night ye can never say it is sunny
Everythin’s dark and grey

chorus

When I got home I was no alone
The police were there wae a fine toothcomb
I got burgled at eight  but  I canny moan
Im too drunk to care
I sat doon on my chair as if I did’nay care
I lit up a smoke while the hoose lay bare
I cannot take this nae mare
I think I will go tae bed

chorus

Re: a late night Friday afternoon

Hey Ken - I played it Blues in E (E, E7, A, B7...that sort of thing) and it seemed to work out. I have to admit I can't get my own voice around scotish slang (if you can imagine a cross between scot slang and american country...well thats what came out...not a good combination. It sure is a nice down on your luck and don't care story song. smile

cheers Jet

I have been trying G.C,G and throwing a D in somewhere but it is ending up sounding like John Prines whistle and fish, which is a good wee tune anyway, so i might rip off his melody for this. Dunno about the chorus yet though

Hi UYK,

I love this wee song. It has great imagery all the way through it.

God you have grown up a lot it seems since you wrote this. I look forward to hearing this sung, with your best Scottish Acccent.
