Topic: something I noticed

Ok, not having a dig at anyone here but.........

Why cant some people read thru old threadds to answer their own questions before they ask them?

What  imean is  icontinue to see the same questions getting asked, ie.e what songs can I play? anyone know any new songs for me to play? anyone know 3 chord wonder? i am new and want to know some songs to start with? etc etc etc

these questions get ask time and time again.

I even find myself answering them as well ( not that I mind).

Maybe new posters to the forum have not read the previous posts and just come in and ask?

Maybe they have read previous posts but want a personalised reply?

Or maybe they cant be bothered to look to see if their question has been asked before/

I think all questions probably have been asked already in the last 6 months? maybe I am wrong? maybe I have drank a bit too much speyside malt whisky and I am ranting?

hmmmmmmm??????? i dunno

Just thought I would mention this

Re: something I noticed

Actually, I think it is wonderful that certain questions are asked repeatedly - it just shows that many Chordie users have alot in common.  Yes - sifting through old posts might be helpful . . . but, if someone is new to the site and unfamiliar with the forum, then manuevering through all the threads is too much to ask.

I think it is important for all users (new & old alike) to feel that this forum is a good source for information.  I would hate for this place to become snobby and unwelcoming for new users.

Perhaps some long-time Chordie users can come up with a collection of maybe twenty or thirty 3-chord wonders that can be prominently displayed at the Chordie home page?  It could be the 'Essential 3-Chord Songbook'?

Ideally, the songs would be nicely formatted, accurate, and well-known enough to be useful to a broad spectrum of players.  So, what should be included in this book?

Chordie users: Make some suggestions and I'll gladly collaborate with you to get it posted!

james, yer right there, and maybe this is why i keep replying to all the repeated questions no matter how I feel at the time of replying, lol

I know I can be the world's laziest for not looking things up and asking is so much easier than sifting thru old posts to see a lot of questions getting sidetracked on the way.

like I said, I have been drinking a really nice malt  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">  and thought I would post something different.  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">

bring on the repeate questions and old questions and eay questions, boring questions etc,

Everyone is different and everyone needs to know what they want to know ( ok, I am confusing myself now)

Re: something I noticed

Greetings mchenry & welcome to the forum!  Since you are pretty new to playing, would you like to help me come up with the "Essential 3-Chord Songbook" or whatever it should be called?

If you haven't posted a songbook yet - it is not very complicated.  Just a matter of assembling songs and cleaning them up with some editing so that they are accurate and usable.

Re: something I noticed

Brown eyed girl.  There is an Em in there but it is not to hard to play.  I should know I have only been playing for about six months this is the first song that i learned.

Re: something I noticed

Well done James,

That list you posted was fantastic.

I have been going nowhere fast for months now and all I needed was some guidance on what songs to learn.

I will focus on these 3 or 4 chord songs to make practicing enjoyable again - as it should be.

A regular item dedicated to this subject would certainly appeal to a great many learner guitarists.

Maybe popular songs could be listed in some sort of scale from easy to a bit harder and so on.

Thanks again.
