could anybody post the pentatonic...i need it for a blues solo

ascending: 1, flatted 3rd, 4th, 5th, dominant 7th. In Am that would be A, C, D, E, G. Play it in "the box" with index finger positioned on the 5th fret. Descending would be A, G, E, D, C, and resolve on the octave A. A maj ascending is A, B, C#, E, F#, resolving on the octave A. Play in the box at the 2nd fret. 2 octaves descending in Amaj (high E to low E strings) would be:
5-2
5-2
4-2
4-2
4-2
5(or open A string)

There is no such thing as "the pentatonic".
A "Pentatonic" scale is a scale made up of 5 notes. Like a pentagon is a geometric figure with 5 sides: PENTA = 5.
Any scale (sequence of notes) which covers an octave in 5 notes is a pentatonic scale.

So how does that help?? pentatonic means five sides. It is five notes out of a major scale.. if you like I could give the patterns...

I can see that none of the people who replied above really wanted to help you out. As a matter of fact there is a generally accepted scale that most people call "the pentatonic scale". The link below should help you out I have found cyberfret.com to be a very useful teaching tool and it has allowed me to become a much better mucian. I could explain everything out to you, but you would be just as well off checking out cyberfret.
Why would those guys want to be such jerks and do nothing but confuse you?

The patterns you use to play them are remarkably similar, though. There are only 5 minor pentatonic patterns, and you can play them from anywhere on the fret board. You can play pentatonic scales without even knowing which key you are playing in. Pick a note on the fretboard, and play one of the five patterns. Viola! You're shredding.
The question, really, is "When do I play a particular scale pattern?" And that's where a good understanding of music theory makes you a better player. It broadens your options about what to play, and when to play it.

There are several pentatonic scales on the fretboard.
Its easiest in my opinion to start with the A minor pentatonic,
But since you mentioned the blues ill tab it out for you.
