Topic: Hello, friends. i'm a new member!

I'm new on this site but have been teaching for 4 years.
I have a year 5/6 class in Rome. Challenging kids, 100% non-English speaking background, lots of fights, little interest in learning and I love every minute!

I do enjoy reading about different school systems and teaching practises and condition and have found a lot of great ideas on this site previously.

You can be very useful here.
WHY? not only because we love new members, but we have also a lot of youngsters and even being administrator, I am just a man with a passion for music, and I know that it is not always easy to give 100% correct answers if youngsters ask information. I know a lot, I look a lot to find information, but more important is: you will love it here.

Thats awesome that you teach. Sometimes I wish I'd have gotten lessons before I learned everything too backwards for it to do any good haha. Anyway, hope you enjoy the site there's lots of good advice floating around and its a real clean helpful site. I'm sure being a teacher you could help alot of us younger players out when we have problems too, and of course any of us would be glad to help you too if you need anything.

Well as for basics,
There's a big chord chart, you can try this too it will help with chords:
http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/chord_name.php

Look on here under scales, various, or something like that for basic riffs, scales, licks, etc.

Check the public songbooks under 'easy', you'll find lots of stuff from all kinds of music, chords, tabs, anything.
 
If you need help learning something in particular, you can always post a question, (I just did a couple of topics in 'electric' about reading tablature).

I always add: you have to know a melody. Knowing a melody is making it quit easier. I also never followed music class, and will it still be useful, being almost 52, and playing since 30 years?
One of my points is: the better you play, the better you can find the right chords listening to a song, and improving your skills by play-a-long.
