Topic: Daddy where did you go?

Here is a song I wrote based on my own experiences, I wrote it a few years ago about when I saw my dad after thirtenn years of not seeing or hearing from him.
I think I should re-record this song.

DADDY WHERE DID YOU GO?Ken Godwin ( distorted minds)

pretty damn fast song

I[C]ts been thir[Am]teen years s[F]ince I saw you l[G]ast

And a lot has happened in my past

I am all grown up now with two kids and a wife

I love being a father in my life

(chorus)

L[C]ife without a father was really h[Em]ard

No friendly smile no birthday ca[C]rd

No strict rules I had to ob[Em]ey

Sometimes I thought I would make you pa[D]y

Bu[D]t bitterness is not I[C]nside of[G] me

M[D]aybe a little bit but it’s[C] hard to [G]see

(break)

D[F#m]addy where did you go where did you go where did you[Em] go

D[F#m]addy where did you go where did you[Em] go

I cant remember if you ever said goodbye

And I don’t kow if you even tried

But what I do know is that you never kept in touch

Although it did bother me I never show it much

(chorus)

daddy where were you when I needed you

I grew up without   knowing you

As the years passed I began to accept

Life    without a father

Daddy where did you go where did you go where did you go

Daddy where did you go where did you go

Chorus

Re: Daddy where did you go?

thanks old doll and daddy.

Yeah was hard, but when yer young you live with it as you grow, then ye think, wait a minute, something is missing. lol
I have this habot of being honest, sometimes too honest and I dont know when to shut up.

I do keep in touch with my dad now thru e mail ( he lives in USA) So it is not all that bad.

Cheers

I can sure feel the emotion. It is genuin and heartfelt.  Good job..

Re: Daddy where did you go?

Nice song. I can relate to it as well.

Re: Daddy where did you go?

Hi Ken,

A heartfelt song of an awful experience which luckily I have not experienced and I do hope that you are still in touch with your father now.

I tried it fast but preferred to play it at a more moderate tempo.

Thank you,

Roger

Re: Daddy where did you go?

Cheers Roger,
( and how ye doin?)

It can be played moderatly. I play it fast or slow or inbetween sometimes, depends on how i feel or how much I want to annoy my wife ,lol

I think I might make one of my picture videos tomorrow or might even do a vid with me in it,lol

but will let everyone no doubt as i always do,lol

Ken

Music can be very therapeutic

young children take up a lot of time and energy and it can sometimes be difficult to sort out priorities

I made the decision to spend more time with my kids but it was mot an easy one .

then one day I looked at the lryics to "cats in the cradle" by Harry Chapin. Its a great song and I was moved. much happier about giving up the little things that i gave up to play with my kids.

always good to have a fresh reminder.
