Topic: Guitar Here You Are

Guitar Here You Are
A,.. D and C and other chords that can be
Politicians looking for popularity
People looking for sanity
Hoping for clarity
Listening to those looking for votes
While some want to learn notes
People like us start playing guitar
Small chords not returning rewards
Rivers to ford
Mountains to cross
Before hearing our reward
Sweet sounding chords
Notes that rang
Music  from before time began
In our hunger pangs
Angels sang
Old church bells  rang
Through out the land
All doesn't have to be so bland
A better foundation then sinking sand
Rock and roll
Simple country and soul
Taking our blues away
Singing our songs
Having our say
Defeating evil
Is why people pray
Singing songs
While trying to make hay

Re: Guitar Here You Are

You hear a lot about mash-ups lately. I've never thought about a mash up between a guitar and a politician! Politicians (especially Americans) use music to attract younger people but that's just devisiveness. They say never mix politics and religion I guess you've successfully combined the guitar and politics. Unfortunately when you put your guitar away it stops playing, you can't stop a politician talking.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: Guitar Here You Are

Piri, while our guitars sleep the affected people gently weep. Or maybe it should be while my guitar gently weeps the politicians are asleep at the wheel. Though throwing people to the lions today would be considered a crime. Thats what they did in Roman times. Back in the day of the Roman Empire, Emperors thought they were gods.  I often wonder in this day have our politicians moved on. One man's justice is another's injustice one man's song is another's noise. Many workers work hard singing their songs while the hoy polloi put their air muffs on. We are all 90 percent water but what people often see is just what sits above. Diversity is a good state divisive leaders just create hate. The balance between need and greed is always going to be a tricky one. The frustration for all people on earth is how our leaders are using their stewardship of public assets. What is the real agenda of those seeking  power when they open their mouths is it the truth or smoke and mirrors. I don't think there is any country where the people would sing yes the President loves me because what he or she does tells me so.

Pedr.  In Roman times if and when the emperor overstepped the mark or just because they got on someone's nerves, the praetorian guards got their knives out, or even other senators " et to Brute" not too sure of the spelling but I can think of a few people's around the world that might benefit from similar action, no names mentioned! Down with the self serving, self advancing fools and warmongering idiots.
This is not really political just  a comment and hope that our world can survive longer than these so called world leaders.

Re: Guitar Here You Are

Cheers Piri the old Praetorian Guard were like the Russian KGB today they had the ability to make people disappear or die. Julia Agrippina got to pull the strings behind the scenes after poisoning her husband so she could marry her uncle Claudius after bringing about the murder of his wife.. It was then thought she poisoned Claudius. Her connection to the head of the Praetorian Guard meant that they then proclaimed Nero at the age of seventeen as the Emperor  of the Roman Empire.
Romans were good at knocking people of. For  a so called civilized sophisticated society they had a deep attraction to extreme violence and death. Cavemen were most probably Saints compared with them.
I guess we can thank the Greeks for starting this thing known as democracy round about 600AD.
Peace and goodwill to everyone nothing much has changed since John and Yoko sang Give Peace A Chance.

Peatle, that's a good poem right there.  I like how you have put that one together.  I read through it a couple of times and it has some really good points in it.

Re: Guitar Here You Are

Thank you, Jan I wrote the poem, as my way of saying no matter what is happening music can have a way cutting through that. If its true the musicians kept playing when the Titanic sank I can see why and no doubt there were prayers been fervently prayed at the same time. In times of sadness people sing to lift their spirits. When people are oppressed its hard for the oppressors to take their music away in many cases. Though there are many frustrating moments when trying to play music there is also those eureka moments. Hearing a musician on you tube talking about his eureka moments is what got me started on writing the poem. Sometimes someone playing melodic music is all I need to lift my spirits when feeling a bit down and I suspect that is true for most people in those tough moments.

Re: Guitar Here You Are

About 50 years ago when I played in a band I sometimes got into arguments with another member, as you do!, being me, I used to pout and wouldn't sing harmony to him until about the 3rd song when the hwyl (joy) would get to me and all would be well. Yes music lifts the spirit.
