I've just spent a very disturbing half hour banning and moving spam from guitars and accessories advertising brothels all over Asia. There were 30 posts!
All on a day that I found out via my good friend Pete Shutlar that another good friends wife had passed away. I should imagine all longer term members will remember Strummer boy Bill? My sincere condolences to Bill and his wife Dondra's family. RIP Dondra.
Condolences to Bill and his family. I think of him often. He was the heart and soul of Chordie for many years - I always looked up to him. He gave so much good advice and had a tremendous sense of humor. He was quite aware of his dimentia situation and often commented about it. I even wrote a song about it at his request called " The creek don't run by my cabin no more" I hope he is doing well in the care of his family. Although I never met him in person we exchanged emails and cards often. A true gentleman and wise sage.
Donna was the light of his life - he called her the " Beautiful Dondra!"
Sadness on chordie tonight for Dondra & Bill !!

So beautiful and shows how much love and respect there was between them both. Bill has been missed over the last few years and I regret now not separating the posts which I named spam. I hope Bill is well physically at least as there's no coming back from dementia. Life is fragile. Cherish it and respect it. As has been said many times; you'll never get out of it alive. Let's hope there's something better on the other side.
I'm sorry to hear this - I joined the forum just as Bill was spending less time here, but we did some email exchanges around 2018, when he spoke fondly of his wife.

I am so sorry to hear the news about Dondra, Bills beloved wife and partner. I have fond memories of how Bill always said lovely things about his Dondra. My thoughts go out to Bill. I miss seeing Strummer Boy Bill on here, he always had great things to say, he was a great conversationalist on here and genuinely enjoyed chatting with all that came on here. I received a few emails and Christmas cards from Bill over the time I knew him on here and always enjoyed hearing from him. Much love and thoughts to you Bill and your family xx
