Thanks for kicking off this month, Peatle, I really enjoyed the song, although I must admit at the pause(s) I was waiting for a big drum intro to kick in ...

Was that a black cockatoo at the end? I thought they were only in Australia ... !

Cheers

Re: September 2023 FSOTM: Hailstorms, Lightning, Stormy Monday, Spring

Richard, thank you for having a listen and watch.  I wish I had the skills to add a bit of bass and some drum fills to it as that would lift it to another level maybe. The bird at the end is a local native to New Zealand a Tui. I hope we see a few more give this a shot this month.

I've been messing around in Apple's Logic for the last couple of weeks, I find it incredible the stuff that it can do - overwhelmingly so!! There are a few PC programs that can also do this - Fruity Loops is one that my son used for a while, others like Cakewalk have been around for a while, nd even something like Audacity can help (although it doesn't have the built in drum loops to add) ... if you've got some time to invest, pick one and start playing around - you'll be surprised by the results you can get!!

Re: September 2023 FSOTM: Hailstorms, Lightning, Stormy Monday, Spring

Hi everyone, I`m back now and looking forward to catching up on all the FSOTM entries whilst I was away and Chordie in general.  Will take a little bit of time to read and listen to it all but will get there smile

Thanks, neophytte for keeping it going while I was away.

Re: September 2023 FSOTM: Hailstorms, Lightning, Stormy Monday, Spring

(Verse 1)
In the heart of spring, the neophyte blooms,
Blossoms reaching for the sun's warm tunes,
But beware, as the skies turn gray and cruel,
A brewing tempest threatens, like an ancient duel.

(Chorus)
Jandles of ice fall from the sky,
While peatles of lightning streak on high,
It's a stormy Monday, a clash of the divine,
Nature's fury meets the season's prime.

(Verse 2)
Jandles pelt the earth with a rhythmic beat,
As peatles flash, the world takes a seat,
Grah1's arrival, a stormy Monday's call,
A symphony of chaos, shaking the souls of all.

(Chorus)
Jandles of ice fall from the sky,
While peatles of lightning streak on high,
It's a stormy Monday, a clash of the divine,
Nature's fury meets the season's prime.

(Bridge)
But amidst the chaos, life still thrives,
Neophytte blossoms, like hope that survives,
For in the heart of the storm, a lesson to embrace,
The beauty of spring, the power of nature's grace.

(Verse 3)
So, let the jandles dance, let the peatles ignite,
Grah1's fury will fade, yielding to the light,
In the season of renewal, we find our way,
Through hailstorms and lightning, we'll greet the day.

(Chorus)
Jandles of ice fall from the sky,
While peatles of lightning streak on high,
It's a stormy Monday, a clash of the divine,
Nature's fury meets the season's prime.

(Outro)
As spring prevails, the storm's memory will fade,
But the songs of nature's might, in our hearts, are laid,
For in the tempest's wake, we find strength anew,
In the embrace of spring, where dreams come true.

Re: September 2023 FSOTM: Hailstorms, Lightning, Stormy Monday, Spring

Jan, welcome back.

Shahrozking789,   clever use of lyrics reminds me of the psychodelia type songs that came out in the late 60's .  A song that comes to mind is "Hole In My Shoe", by Traffic. Hope we get to hear more from you and welcome to chordie.

Richard, Thank you I must look into those recording things you suggested sometime.

Re: September 2023 FSOTM: Hailstorms, Lightning, Stormy Monday, Spring

Thanks Peatle, good to be back smile  Just had a listen to your entry for this month.  Wow, not only did you write a song, perform it and put it to a video, you had some good lyrics in there that were great.  Loved the line "Oh the bank manager loves you when its right"...... such a good line! big_smile  Fantastic to see you back writing and performing Peatle smile

Shahrozking789 wow that was very clever.  Not only did you include every word, but you included members from here in that entry, pretty darn clever and it seems we have another TIGLJK in our midst with that one.  Awesome entry, welcome to Chordie and FSOTM.  Love to hear you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself smile

Re: September 2023 FSOTM: Hailstorms, Lightning, Stormy Monday, Spring

Thank you Jan  I should imagine talking about the Bank manager line that there are many around the world at this present time who are not getting much love from their bank managers. The cost of living seems to be skyrocketing everywhere on this planet.

Re: September 2023 FSOTM: Hailstorms, Lightning, Stormy Monday, Spring

Here's a song I wrote earlier this year Prelude to Solitude, which was unfinished for a previous FSOTM, but has now been modified to include the line a bolt of lightning, through my heart to be eligible for this months FSOTM:

This a really great post

Re: September 2023 FSOTM: Hailstorms, Lightning, Stormy Monday, Spring

Richard that is a good song and I like its title "Prelude To Solitude".  The Waneroo Club is that a regular place where you play??

Thanks, it was based on the song from the April 2023 FSOTM: https://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=38819

Yes, they often have 'guest artist' appear, but have said recently that the 'come-all-ye' have been more popular (and are cheaper for the club to run) so have been doing more of those. They have a web site with a few of their performers here:

Richard, your Wanneroo Club website would have to be one of the best music club sites I have seen. Excellent photos and write ups

Thanks, I've sent that to the guy that does most (if not all!) of it. I'm sure he'll be happy to read some positive feedback! I know he puts a lot of effort in and, as it goes in these clubs, is often underappreciated.

Re: September 2023 FSOTM: Hailstorms, Lightning, Stormy Monday, Spring

neophytte, nice little switch with the lyrics in that line in this song.   It actually works better I thought swopping that line out (I went back and checked the original version).  Well done, the song as I said previously on the original version suits you and works well.  Nice one.

Thanks for that feedback - I'm glad I got to do it live instead of it becoming a shelf project ... I've been having fun exploring my old songs again, but always keen to start up something new, there are a few other songs in the pipelines, but they seem to get pushed into the 'distraction zone' and don't get finished (you know that line from Pink Floyd's Time:   "... plans that either go to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines ..." )

Cheers
