Topic: On The Wings Of Morning Doves

I wrote this song this morning  because Jan threw down the gauntlet challenge for the chordie song of the month smile

It's got all the words in it as usual.  I kinda got a little bit on the soapbox here, but i tried to mask it a bit.

Let me know what you think

(I also will post it in the SOTM Thread)

On The Wings Of Morning Doves by Jim Kenyon

[A]I dreamt I was riding a horse with no name

Through an octopuses’ garden in the [E]night

[E]There were free birds flying in the clouds

And Buffalo soldiers forced to [A]fight

.

[A]There were iron butterfliesin the air

As werewolves of London howled at the [E] moon

[E]while politicians dove down their rabbit holes

with paper tigers dancing to the money [A]tune

.

Chorus

[D]Dreams can be a place where no child goes hungry

[A]A place where the world knows only love

[D]a place where heart’s are filled with compassion

and [E]peace is found on the [D]wings of morning [A]doves

.

[A]black crows were singing hallelujah mama

while young people wondered for what it's [E]worth

[E]and all along the watchtower it seems

no one cares that blood still stains our[A]earth ?

.

[A] I saw a Lion sleeping all through the night

it was peaceful on the plains of the[E]savanna

but then I saw mama's crying, and good men dying

as men with hoods burned crosses in Ala[A]bama

.

Chorus

[D]Dreams can be a place where no child goes hungry

[A]A place where the world knows only love

[D]a place where heart’s are filled with compassion

and [E]peace is found on the [D]wings of morning [A]doves

.

[A]As the dawn was starting to end the night

my dream put me in a car, it was was a '59 [E]Chevy

[E]the snow was flying, the radio said the music was dying

so I drove myself down by the river to the[A]levee

.

[A]My dream took me to a party at the Bohemian club

The members all had Rolls Royce’s with plastic[E] Jesus'

[E]I saw bombs with people’s names hidden in the clouds

like that apple in Eden, seems we do whatever [A]pleases.

.

Chorus

[D]Dreams can be a place where no child goes hungry

[A]A place where the world knows only love

[D]a place where heart’s are filled with compassion

and [E]peace is found on the [D]wings of morning [A]doves

.

Outgo- a little slower

yeah and [E]peace is found on the [D]wings of morning [A]doves

keep dreaming that[E]peace is found on the [D]wings of morning [A]doves

Re: On The Wings Of Morning Doves

Hi Jim.  Your song is original, but appears to be written in Chordie.  I have tried to do this unsuccessfully.  The best tip I had found was to start with a chordie-searched song and edit it "from scratch".  I have edited a lot, and feel comfortable with that process, but I always run afoul of Chordie's copyright protections.

Is there a more straightforward approach?

Thanks for any tips.

Songs written in the forums won't appear in Chordie; it is a search engine for songs on other sites. Chordie is to songs, what Goggle is to websites.
