I was just wondering about what everyone thinks about todays music.
most if it sucks, but there are a few (if rather rare) 'diamonds in the rough' so to speak. I don;t think its the fact that its new that makes it bad, so don't mistake me. i think the pop culture world has come to put more emphasis on image then the quality of the music. Another thing is, (while dont get me wrong there are some awesome stuuf you can do with computers and guitar effects and i really do enjoy them), but we have too many ways to electronically cover up mistakes and make it sound better. Not that I don;t want music to sound better, I just think it ought to sound good without being polished up too.
I think the best singers and players are the ones who could sit down in front of you with just thier guitar and thier own voice and still sound great..... so anyway thats just my opinion. Nice to meet another girl who plays by the way.
I think its the same as any other decade, most of the stuff on the radio is rubbish, but if you go looking for it, you'll find some brilliant new music.
personally speaking , the best kind of music is the kind you make in the privacy of your own home, if god has blessed you, i love my own brand of music, while apprieciateing others, but yes your right about todays music, its all aimed at teenies, manufactured crap mostly.
oh by the way guys, hope im allowed to say this, if anyone of you is looking for absolutely free gutair video lessons click on to you tube and type in accoustic free gutair and youll be amazed at the quality of lessons. dont thank me just send money ha ha
yes geraldine, you can say it, you could even post a link to it.
As long as it has something to do with music and you are not spamming continually, feeel free to say what you want.
As long as there is no swearing, cursing, slagging others, spamming porn, it is normally very relaxed in here.
Ken
i think sum bands are ok but music has gown down in terms of classics!!!
Ninety percent of everything is crap. New music. Old music. Ain't nothing changed.
Ninety percent of everything is crap. New music. Old music. Ain't nothing changed.
yeah you know really, we talk about how music was so much better when the classic artists were out, but we don't ever think about how there a million other bands that sucked at the same time.
Ive always said good music is good music, dont matter who made it or when.
Lots of real good stuff, lots of real bad.
Good; John Mayer, Brad Paisley, Goverment Mule, Steve Vai, String Cheese Incident, Disco Biscuits, Keller Williams, Ziggy Marley, Eric Clapton, JJ Cale,
The new Allman Brothers, KT Tunstall, Death Cab for Cutie, moe., Trace Bundy, Alison Krauss and Union Station,Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, White Stripes, and so, so, many more. There's good in many, some you just have to look a little deeper. More importantly, this generation has put the emphasis BACK to the singer/songwriter and away from the lip sync/sequenced crud that cluttered the music industry for way too long.
Bad; Anything remotely related to or associated with American Idol, emo bands whos "men" wear eye liner make-up on their eyes, posers who talk about writing songs and then not playing an instrument in concert, any clown who uses pre-recorded music in their "LIVE" act.
I wouldn't say it all sucks... there's not going to be any music legends from this decade though. sure, everyone will remember hendrix, zeppelin, pink floyd, the beatles, the rolling stones etc. but no ones going to remember fallout boy, or sean kingston 30 years from now... kind of sad, but its the truth.
ok let me rephrase that...
99% of the radio & MTV/VH1 SUCKS!!!!
There is so much talent out there that will never see the day of popularity.
Rap/hip hop had an impact long ago & was interesting & fun, now it just rehashes crappy old formulas. it's time sombody destroys the whole movement! We need something new!
PS,
Emo is for emotionally disturbed boys who border punk & metrosexuality.
Get over it & stop wining.
Personally I think that some of todays bands are good.
But even then they all have bad songs
lol emos.... never heard of one till i moved to the city a year ago. First time i met one i called em a emu and they got mad. Are emo and punk rock the same thing?
They both wear girls pants and long hair in the front.....
emo is more screaming, i hate my life, i wish i was dead kind of stuff. punk rock is more things are bad but there's still hope. i know plenty of people who listen to punk rock and dress normally, have friends, and are fun to be around. now as far as emo and punk lifestyle, it differs wherever you go. hmm...the thin border between ways of music and ways of life.
::kori::
EMO is generally middle class white kids trying to find a reason to be oppressed. Perhaps they got the Ford, rather than the Infinity for their birthday.
emo pisses me off... i often dress in black and people on the streets shout emo!! at me... how lovely.
So that makes you what, Goth? That's even worse!
no... i dont know
anyways whats the point of labelling everyone?
Because it's entertaining.
I'm wearing all black right now. It's because I have dinner reservations later, but I'm going to tell everyone it's because I have a Jonny Cash fetish.
HAHAHA
i swear that some people can accept the fact that some people like to dress in black and are actually nice.
i meant CANT accept the fact
lol jerome thats funny about the ford.... and the johnny cash thing
But yeah black is cool, i like black. In an AC/DC back in black or a johnny Cash man in black way.....
.... but skinny little men in tight pants playing with thier hair and winin' cuz they cant go to the emo concert cuz they have to clean thier room.... lol give me a break
