[E]I woke up this morning and


[E]The weather was pristine.


[A]The sun just started rising,


[E]Mother Nature doing her thing.


[C]I made a pot of coffee,


[D]While it brewed I walked outside.


[E]The quiet morning greeted me


[E]As I tried to decide. [C] [D] [E]

Should I head to the office,


Or head out to the hills?


In for a day behind a desk,


Or out for a day of thrills?


Should I stray off my daily path?


It’s so tempting just to stray,


But I went on in to work


Just like every other day.

I made it home that evening


After my daily grind.


I made it to the weekend with my


Work week left behind.



I reflected on my decision.


I reflected on how I live.


I thought about how much longer


I’d be willing just to give.

[C]How much really is enough?


[A]How much is too much [E]pain?


[C]What would I do if not my job


[A]With nothing left to [D]gain?


[C]Nothing but whatever it is


[A]I figure out to [E]do,


[C]Going anywhere I want


[D]With the [B7]people I want [E]too.

The mountains might be calling,


Maybe even the sea,


Or all the places in between.


They all could be calling me,


And I won’t have to go,


And I won’t have to stay.


I could even stay at home if I want to,


So long as the weather stays this way.

Nature the perfect place to be  to get rid of the things that the daily grind can throw at us. That feeling that an irritating little  pebble in  a shoe gives us  that needs getting rid of before we can  tackle the big boulders that try and block our path through life at times can be dealt with  in quiet places on land, sea and hills. Excellent song. I like those lines of yours.
I figure out to do,
Going anywhere I want
With the people I want too.

well since i retired last year the choice is easy for me

ps
still the redskins to me but stopped watching last season they call them what ever they want     

out of tune out of key and out of touch

Thanks Pete and Joe. This song was about my retirement that is coming not too far in the future but for now too far for me to be able and take an unscheduled day off. When I do I know who it will be with, but then most any place in the world will be wide open to visit if I want. Joe, I'll pull for them, whatever they want to call them, but Redskins still works for me too...and I still watch whenever I'm able.

A song that  is reflecting my thoughts  as I type. I could've retired five years ago
but I still keep going.  I actually still enjoy teaching and coaching.
But now that my grandchildren are all going to live within a couple of hours of me - it seems more of a reality.
I might call it quits any day.
