Topic: L & G guitars MUSIC MAN Fender: his babies.

I don't know if this is the real story about how they started, the only facts I know is FENDER was sold to CBS and Leo Fender got a job as advisor and silent partner, leaving FENDER because there was a big discussion in 1970.
I think it must be painful to see your "child" raised by a company who only was interested in making big $$$. In 1970 he left Fender and started to work for MUSIC MAN (Forrest White &d Tom Walker.) guitars in 1972.
Sold in 1980, and legally not able to use his name, he started with George Fullerton the brand G&L.

What I really don't know is:
- Music Man still produced.
- G&L guitars, of course with a fender look, if they are still sold?
MUSIC MAN had some famous artists, like Steve LUKATHER, EDDIE VAN HALEN, STEVE MORSE.
About G&L: I don't know if this company still exists and is producing guitars: but where? In or outside the USA?
BUT I NEED YOU HERE CHORDIANS: is there a big difference between Fender Stratocaster and the "look-a like G&L?"
What is the REAL DIFFERENCE" between those 3 guitars, where Leo Fender was involved?

Phil,

G&L is located in Fullerton California, Mrs Fender is the honory chairperson. I believe musicman is owned by ernie ball. The G&L Fender style copies were basically an upgraded design of the original guitars. Mr. Fender wanted to make his strat better than the CBS Fenders.

G & L is alive and well and if you really want a good Strat or Telly type guitar then G & L is absolutely top line!

AGAIN, that is the reason why "we", at least I love chordie.
You ask a question, if you are a professional, some questions look "STUPID", there ain't no stupid questions, only stupid answers.
