DEATH RIDER
Beamer and Jets 4/22/2021

THE TALE
OF GROWING OLD
GREETING DEATH
DO YOU GO OUT MILD OR BOLD

TAKE ME
UNDER YOUR WINGS
WRAP ME
IN YOUR FOLD

OH TAKE ME… FROM THIS LIFE
                                                         (THE SHELL IS FRAIL)
LET MY SOUL SAIL AND RELEASE ME
                                                           (FROM THIS STRIFE)
SET ME FREE, SET ME FREE
                                                  (COME FOR ME!)

PLACE ME UPON YOUR STALLION
TAKE ME TO THE STARS.
BALANCE MY SINS
I KNOW WHO I WAS AND I KNOW WHO YOU ARE

OH TAKE ME… FROM THIS LIFE
                                                         (THE SHELL IS FRAIL)
LET MY SOUL SAIL AND RELEASE ME
                                                           (FROM THIS STRIFE)
SET ME FREE, SET ME FREE
                                                  (COME FOR ME!)
OH TAKE ME!

FREE ME FROM MY BURDENS
CUT AWAY MY CHAINS
SENDING ME ON MY PATH
IS ALL THAT REMAINS!

OH TAKE ME… FROM THIS LIFE
                                                         (THE SHELL IS FRAIL)
LET MY SOUL SAIL AND RELEASE ME
                                                           (FROM THIS STRIFE)
SET ME FREE, SET ME FREE
                                                  (COME FOR ME!)
OH TAKE ME!

IT’S ALL THAT REMAINS!
IT’S ALL THAT REMAINS!
IT’S ALL THAT REMAINS!

Re: Death Rider w/ Jets addition

interesting lyrics there Beamer

reminds me of Shakespeare's  As You Like It:

With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;
His youthful hose, well sav’d, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion;
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

your words mean the same to me - but an easier read.
I look forward to your rendition of it in song

Jim

Your vision is not limited by what your eye can see, but what your mind can imagine.
Make your life count, and the world will be a better place because you tried.

"Use the talents you possess, for the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except only the the best." - Henry Van Dyke

Re: Death Rider w/ Jets addition

Good one Beamer and reading what both you and Jim written above got me thinking of this piece of Shakespeare writing below.  To me Shakespeare is saying   a healthy  irreverence to death is not  a profane attack on a dead soul. It  is a celebration of a life well lived and going out bold.

We should profane the service of the dead,
To sing a requiem and such rest to her
As to peace-parted souls.

Re: Death Rider w/ Jets addition

Being thicker than most folks I had to read through this poem a few times to fully understand the sheer brilliance of this work. To be compared to work by Shakespeare is no bad thing. Unfortunately the only thing I know about Bill Shakespeare is the pub called Shakespeare's Arms in Nottingham England. To me what we have here is something more in line with that classic rock anthem ( Don't Fear) The Reaper.
I look forward to hearing the words put to music.
