Topic: Pawnee Creek

I re -wrote the song  ( which was inspired by Russell and his band's instrumental version)
I couldn't find the original thread - easier to to it this way.

I tried to make it a bit mysterious.

Hope it works for you.

Pawnee Creek  by Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

.

[Em]up in the Northland near Pawnee creek

met me a woman made my knees grow weak

I fell so hard I nearly lost my mind

[B7]made me feel so good, then she[Am] left me be[Em]hind

Verse 2

.

[Em]we shared a cabin down by Pawnee creek

I fell in love for about a week

she was a hard luck woman with killer eyes

[B7]her bed was warm, but her [Am]heart was all [Em] lies

.

Chorus

[Am]oh Pawnee Creek, Pawnee Creek

[Em]Yeah Pawnee Creek, Pawnee creek

[Am]where the water flows and the eagles fly

[B7]mysterious shadows ‘neath a [Am]pale moon [Em]sky

[Am]oh Pawnee Creek,such a pretty name

[Em]Pawnee creek, never leave you the same

[Am] sure ain’t no place for the mild or meek

[B7]ain't nothing but heartaches from [Am]Pawnee [Em]Creek

.

Verse 3

.

[Em]Up in the tall pines near Pawnee creek

I still hear her voice, though she doesn’t speak

Oh, We loved, we loved, and we loved some more

[B7]but then that witchy woman snuck [Am] out the [Em]door

Verse 4

.

[Em]Well it's a lonely road that leads from Pawnee Creek

whispering pines mask a mournful shriek

there's echoes of sadness as the night bird's cries

[B7]last time she ever looked in [Am] to my [Em] eyes

.

Chorus

[Am]oh Pawnee Creek, Pawnee Creek

[Em]Yeah Pawnee Creek, Pawnee creek

[Am]where the water flows and the eagles fly

[B7]mysterious shadows ‘neath a [Am]pale moon [Em]sky

[Am]oh Pawnee Creek,such a pretty name

[Em]Pawnee creek, never leave you the same

[Am] sure ain’t no place for the mild or meek

[B7]ain't nothing butheartaches from [Am]Pawnee [Em]Creek

[B7]oh how I miss that woman from [Am]Pawnee [Em]Creek

[B7]oh how I miss that woman

[B7]oh how I miss that woman

[B7]oh how I miss that woman ..........

from [Am]Pawnee [Em]Creek

end with a picking of each string in Em and then an easy  or soft  EM strum

Re: Pawnee Creek

Great words and story Jim. Can I make one suggestion? Last line 2nd verse; change "her heart was full of lies" to "her heart was all lies" it's closer to the metre.

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Phill

Thank you - I totally agree and knew that - just couldn't figure it out.
I knew there were to many syllables for the beat count ( I'm assuming that's what metre is smile  )

Thanks again
