Topic: Looper Recommendations?

Hi all ...

I've recently been watching some YouTube vids of people using Loop Pedals in creative ways, and have been bitten. Yup, I need one. big_smile One leading contender is the BOSS RC-3LS (shown below). My BOSS ME-80 has a built in Looper, but it's only 38-seconds, which really limits its ability. I do like BOSS gear however, so the familiarity with their designs should help an old buzzard like me learn how to use it easier.

I know some of you use them a fair bit, so would like to know which one you prefer - and most importantly - why?

I started out with a Ditto, then moved to a Ditto x2. They are both basic and fun to play with (I got the x2 for the same price I sold the Ditto for, so upgraded due to 'no loss of money' factor). Later I moved into the Pigtronix Infinity Looper, specifically because it outputs a MIDI clock which would sync up to my BeatBuddy drum pedal - apparently you can also get the MIDI to sync up to reverb pedals, but I haven't done that yet.

Loopers are only as good as your timing,  if your playing with a drummer and bass player it's a whole new animal from sitting in your living room practicing and you have to almost anticipate when to punch in the recorded track a split second.

I use an RC 3 all the time live but as Russell says it down to timing ,however I pre record a backing track into it and use it that way .Down side is you can't stretch or shorten a song if you feel like it  .It's a good tool if you use it wisely.

I can see why, this young man is very creative and technically sound and also uses some high quality mixing and video skills.

I'm using a Ditto x2 as well, haven't had any issues with it, it does its job and does it well! It's more advanced than my own guitar level though!
