Hi everybody,
love the hard work and effort...makes my practice possible. Why do many songs have lyrics mid-way thru songs with
black type chord names instead of blue chord names?

One of two things - either the song isn't correctly formatted on the source site (it needs to be in ChordPro format), or the Chordie parser hits some sort of error and can't recover from it.
Normally it's the first one; I download the files I want to play and reformat them to the way I like them, and it also gives me the opportunity to save the files to my iPad and have them with me where ever I travel.

You can also fix the issue right here if you have saved the song into your songbook.
The edit function lets you right into the raw song code.
Usually the issue is missing brackets [around the chord] but if you find the chord is in the wrong place - or the wrong chord altogether, you can move and correct it as you please and make any other changes you deem to be necessary (add/fix lyrics?). This affects only your songbook so you aren't messing anything up for anyone else - I just tested it again and my changes were not reflected in the original.
The code is fairly intuitive so give it a go...
