Re: friday's blues fix

Thank you Classical Guitar for stepping up and posting good blues.

Re: friday's blues fix

Great tune, CG, and thanks for stepping in to fill Badeye's boots. I emailed a few weeks ago, but haven't heard back. I know I speak for everyone in hoping that he's okay.

Re: friday's blues fix

Friday's Blues Fix is from Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues last concert 2010. He passed shortly  after  this.

Re: friday's blues fix

Gary was one of the greats, and could play extremely well in many different genres. I recall a duet he did with a very young Don Airey on keyboards(called "The Scorch") during his stint with Colosseum II ... breathtaking performance. Terrific share, CG ... many thanks!

Re: friday's blues fix

Gary was brilliant he drank himself to death which was a sad loss.

From what I have read he got clean a long time ago and then during vacation he slipped and drank too much and never woke up. I hope he is still singing and playing in heaven.

Re: friday's blues fix

Very good choice, CG, love that slide sound he uses ... really puts some intensity in the song. Thanks!

TIG ... I've sent Badeye a couple of emails via the Forum mailer, but haven't had a reply. I only know his first name is "Brad", so haven't been able to look him up on line for any other news. I know we all miss him, and hope everything's okay.

Re: friday's blues fix

I wrote to Badeye today and so far I have not heard from him.

Re: friday's blues fix

CG I loved Lonnie Johnson way of playing Blues Guitar.

Re: friday's blues fix

Great choice, CG ... thoroughly enjoyed that. And it's a surprisingly clear recording coming from that time period.

Soooo glad you're okay, Badeye ... we were a bit concerned. It was actually Classical Guitar that kept us from going through "blues fix withdrawal", and he did a very capable job. Talk to ya Friday, dude!

Re: friday's blues fix

Since so far Badeye has not made it back yet, I am going to post one more blues fix. Today's Blues is from Janiva Magness - You Were Never Mine. She is current and is on tour now and from what I listen to she is very good.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK1RgJzMgwc

Re: friday's blues fix

Welcome back Badeye, I luv the way Muddy did the Blues. It was clever the way the Brits turned the station into a concert area for that TV show.

Re: friday's blues fix

Glad everything's okay, Mr. Badeye. You are an icon here and - as you see -  were greatly missed. It's good we didn't have to send the Blues Brothers out on a mission to find you! smile

Re: friday's blues fix

Two first-class "Blues Fixes" in one weekend ... well done, both of you!

CG ... I'd never heard of Ms. Magness ... what a beautiful, soulful voice she's got ... thoroughly enjoyed her.
And BadEye ... Muddy's always one of the best choices on the menu. Thanks to you both.
