Excellent cover of a great tune. Really enjoyed that Richard - thanks for sharing.
Nice one Richard
That is quite a song with many interpretations... Cohen had a great line when he was asked bout it's meaning -
he said
"Every succeeding moment changes what has happened the moment before.
In the stream of writing, all that is written changes its meanings by what occurs and what is written subsequently."
I think this is quite true - many times a song that we have listened to dozens of times and believe it means one thing, then something happens and it takes on a whole new meaning though the lyrics remain intact and is sung exactly the same way.
You did a superb job on this!
Jim
Thanks for the comments - I kinda like the way this guy interpreted it on the songwriting forum:
Well, I thought a lot about the meaning of this song, and my conclusion is it has very little to do with terrorism, unless you call the music of Britney Spears and her kind terrorism (and I must admit I'm inclined to).
Link to the whole conversation, including other interpretations ...
Anyway, it just was a song on my list I hadn't done ...
Cheers

Excellent cover works well with your voice.
Excellent cover works well with your voice.
Thank you
When I first saw the title- I thought it was an American thing - as in - we took Manhattan from the Native Americans and then took Berlin from Hitler.
Nice Job Richard

Excellent cover neo ........... this really suited you vocally and you played it well
You've done a really great job. I must be honest, I've never heard it before, lots of verses must make it a nightmare to learn? I don't know about terrorism but I made out a lot of varying themes, maybe I'm just shallow and don't look for the bigger picture? Thanks for sharing, how about sharing that hammock in the background and some of your summer heat?
I really enjoyed that, Neo ... an inventive take on Cohen's work, whose lyrical prowess I've always been a fan of. I love the comment about "Britney Spears terrorism" ... hilarious.
