Topic: Auto Tune

Is Auto Tune when singing normal or is it cheating. Unless you know how it works it takes a bad singer and makes them sound better than what they would sound like without it. You can usually hear some difference but with a good mixer it might be hard to know. If someone is using it with cheap software than you can hear difference.

So a bad singer sounding good to me it is cheating. How do you feel about it?

Music is what feelings sound like.
Music is life, that why our hearts have beats.

But we live in an MTV generation, where looks are more important than talent ...

Re: Auto Tune

I agree that it's cheating, and I often wonder how much popular talent is really that talented. When someone adds effects to their voice to achieve a certain feel (reverb, echo, tremolo, etc.) that's one thing. But if someone is using technology to conceal the fact that they can't carry a tune properly, then they really don't deserve to be considered a good singer. IMHO
