No probs ...
Thanks again - I'm going to throw out a challenge for Roger to do "Roxanne" by the Police ....
easybeat, that was a fantastic effort and you covered it so well. Thumbs up from me
neo ..... nicely done, the sound effects on the vocals really make it too.

Thank you ... I did this one a while ago, but felt it needed to be re-done to add some effects to the vocals ...
Cheers

easybeat wrote:Neo challenged me to do `Crazy` and Jan challenged me to do a song close to the original.
So i`ve got both them in one shot.Haven`t heard the original for a long time.
this is a real singers song,so not one i should do,also i think classics are best left alone.
I`ll only leave it up for a week as it`s a bit of a dogs breakfast. But hey, i`m entering the spirit.
https://soundcloud.com/rough-as-gut/crazyThat was good ... is that in the Willie Nelson style? I haven't heard the original for a long time either, and tend to play it a bit more down-strummy rather than picked ... I hope you leave it up for longer!!
This is my down-strummy version ...
Cheers
Richard (with kid sitting in guitar case, who sneezed at _the_ most inappropriate time .... )
Ok here is my entry that easybeat challenged me too. I had a bit of free time tonight to learn it, practice it a little bit and record it. Actually easybeat, when I listened to Frank Sinatra singing it, I didn't know the song at all really, it was not what I was thinking it was. Anyway, I had to do it tonight or not at all as I am babysitting my 2 yr old grandson for 3 weeks and today and tonight was my only child free day to do anything this month. Also, I have never really tried to play Jazz before, that in itself will take me a while to learn how to play properly. So I am not sure it sounds very Jazzy to be honest, and the vocals aren't the best in places as I am not that familiar with this song. It is another song that I wouldn`t mind having another go at but I had to stop, it was getting late and the neighbours probably aren't impressed!

Sounds good!! I did a version over a year ago, but my recording techniques weren't so good then (vocals are a bit distorted!!) ...
Can I challenge you to do Nancy Sinatra's "Boots are made for walking" ... ???
Cheers
Richard
As usual Jan your voice sounds great. To do that song Jazzy with a ukulele would be hard even for a Jazz singer. I like your folky version. It is hard for a vocalist , playing their own backing to jazz up and yet keep that tempo. I should imagine the 7th chords would be hard to play on a Ukulele.
Peatle Jville you always sound great and also happy to play and sing. You make other members who listen to what you record feel good.
Classical Guitar thank you for your kind comments. I always enjoy reading your knowledgeable insights into music and guitar.
Neophytte challenged Anyone to cover these two songs …. Crazy by Patsy Cline and You and Me by Alice Cooper.
Crazy: https://youtu.be/5DktKPAoV6A
You and Me: https://youtu.be/dBkVq1MBsPY
Enjoy
Richard
neo ....... thanks for comments, I think I probably could have done with some distortion on this one as I failed to make it jazzy lol. Oh well, can`t win them all Challenge accepted re these ~Boots are made for walking~ IF I can get time this weekend as looking after my 2 yr old grandson is keeping me full on presently.
Peatle .... thanks for your comments. Yes I agree with you, it easier to try and sing jazz with someone else playing the instruments and then you can just concentrate on singing jazz. Both singing it and playing jazz are new to me ............ I have a long way to go learning to do it properly I think. Yes I think your right, it sounds more folky
hey neo both those links you put up don`t work.
hey neo both those links you put up don`t work.
Hmm, just tried them again, and they both worked for me ... ? Did you want to try again??
Neo your a good man. I love the way you give all songs a go great work. I just heard on the radio that Youtube went down world wide today good see it is all working again.

Thanks .... maybe that's why Jandle couldn't reach my links ...
Sorry all, I have not completed my challenge(s) and I will not be able to do before the end of the month, I have not even had time to listen to other's challenges yet. I have sorted a out a metal song but I will just not have time to finish learning it and record it before the end on the month. However I will get it done as soon as I can and post it late.
My problem is that I run a small band and we have a Halloween gig and are trying to raise in excess of a thousand euros for a local dog rescue charity. There are several new songs, and I have to sort out the key for the vocalist, write the lyric/chord sheets and because we have inexperienced ukulele players I sometimes have to transpose for them, I have also had to find and record horror sounds and scary songs for the pre-performance and interval.
I need 48 hours days at the moment
Sorry again,
Roger
Ok back from holiday, so having a catch up tonight.
neo ........... managed to get on tonight to listen, must have been a clinch somewhere in the system when I tried last time. Ditto to what Peatle said, you give everything ago which in itself is great. I thought of the two covers Crazy was the better. I liked the the way you strummed it too. The other song You and Me you covered seemed a lot harder as the vocals were a lot deeper in the chord you were singing it in. A hard song to sing I think, so points for having a go at it
Roger.......... no worries, totally understand what busy is ..... it's been crazy busy here for the last 6 weeks here for me too. Just when you get time, put it up as we would love to hear it
As for your challenge to me for These Boots neo, I just haven't had time but I will attempt it at some stage when I have caught up with stuff here at home and post it
On that note everyone, sorry the next months FSOTM (which is now this month) is running a bit late as I have been away, so I will do my very best to post it tomorrow afternoon. Apoligees for the lateness of it.
