For this MONTH, JUNE, we are looking for any SONG that mention the word KING, QUEEN, PRINCE or PRINCESS in the Lyrics or Song Title.
 
Secondly…. we are looking for any Song that mentions the word CAPTAIN, LIEUTENANT, OFFICER etc., in the Lyrics or Song Title.  In other words, anything to do with a person`s rank in the Army, Navy or Airforce.

mojo, congrats on being the first off the bat for this month.  Feedback on soundcloud given and as I said on there, this song is such an oldie but a goodie, a great sing along song and you covered it well smile

Thanks Roger glad you enjoyed it. With the exception of the flute this was a live studio recording.John the bass player added the flute later .The whole thing was recorded on a  zoom 8 channel portable desk.

Well, let's see...... that video, I believe is the production which featured Linda Ronstadt and she won the Tony for her part in the production in 1981, so unless I am very mistaken that's the date.

As far as the original "Operetta", it was written and composed by Gilbert and Sullivan in 1880. The two presented other operettas just as delightful and funny as this one. Here is my cover of Captain Kennedy by Neil Young.
I ended up singing it alot faster than the original version by Neil Young, simply because I couldn`t even begin to play it like Neil does let alone sing it like him.  I hunted high and low to find the fantastic tabbing/ picking he uses for the intro and outro and in fact through out the song but to no avail.  So after singing it in various styles, including in a slow haunting style which I liked, I realised without the awesome tabbing Neil does, it just didn't sound right with the strum I was using..... so decided to make it my own version and faster ................ AND still learning guitar.

Once again your marvelous voice is terrific.
I do believe, as you said, that it would be much better if you could slow it down - the tempo you play at seems to happy for that song.

HI Tig,  thanks for feedback and agree, it does make the song sound Happy lol which is not how the song is meant to go at all.  I would love to have sung it slowly and hauntingly but my guitar skills are not up to sounding at all good other than a very boring strum.  Maybe I should have just sung it no instrument? but then that kinda defeats the purpose of Chordie which is to use an instrument of some sort.  Oh well, maybe when my guitar skills attain a better standard for slow songs lol smile  Ahem I still avoid songs with that dreaded F chord too (shush) wink
